I've spent some time looking, but come away with limited options. Is there any way to set a default chat channel or IM to a specific commander, rather than having to go into the friends tab, then click commander and finally click text chat? If you leave the chat window focused upon, you can continue to use this same chat channel, but the moment you switch back to the main game screen, it goes back to Local. It works ok in a wing, until you have another commander targeted, and then it defaults to a message to that commander instead. It is actually much easier to shift-tab to steam to chat, than use the built-in settings...
In other games, using a / prefix allows you to specify a chat channel to use, which makes the whole process a lot less laborious.
Please tell me I've just missed something obvious, and there's a simpler way to deal with this annoyance?
