Noob question - I have been using http://eddb.io/ and http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/ to find commodities...is there a way to do these kinds of searches in game?
The websites I mentioned are pretty good (although not as real time as can be..slightly delayed). I can search for a specific commodity based on my current station/location and it will tell me the closest place to find it...including all the finance data..
having this data in-game seems like a logical thing...not sure why they don't.
If you can do what you can do on eddb.io, ingame, the fun/thrill will be entirely gone.

yeah, I wouldn't look at it as cheating. What trader in any time period would head out into the unknown with a load of stuff, not knowing where he'd sell it?
Given the danger, time and expense, a smart trader is going to use whatever info they get to advise them on what to buy and where to take it. Tools like EDDB represent the networking/information leads that should exist in the 30th century.
Of course the current market must supply or demand the item, and I forgot to mention there's a "consumed by" listing also that work's the same except this is used if buying from current station(to know where to sell) instead of to find where to buy. Thanks! Will look for this!
