In-Game commodity finder

Not really. You get a decent feel for what's at each economy/system type over time. I've never used trading tools before, but don't do dedicated trading that much. If I'm running a mission, I'll check the system types and add in a bit of trading, but rarely get above around 800-1200Cr/T profits. If you're maxing out your Cr/hour profits, then I think you really need trading tools or lots of notes and a 6th sense!

The websites I mentioned are pretty good (although not as real time as can be..slightly delayed). I can search for a specific commodity based on my current station/location and it will tell me the closest place to find it...including all the finance data..

having this data in-game seems like a logical thing...not sure why they don't.

Its to easy i guess, the sport of finding a good station to sell/buy will be entirely gone.

Now its fun to stackup lots of cargo in "sale" keep it on your cargobay till you find a station with the best profit. (this will only works if you have enough cargo space though)

If you can do what you can do on eddb.io, ingame, the fun/thrill will be entirely gone.

I see your point entirely..however...for me...the excitement/fun of ED comes from piloting a ship in space. Perhaps its that I am easily entertained. But for me, having a database telling you where you can find everything is no different than google shopping for the cheapest place to find X. The fun isn't in the search, but in the action of buying and using.

I get my enjoyment out of the action of piloting my ship around, so using a website to find what I am looking for quickly just gets me on the move quicker.

That is the great thing about ED. Play it your way.

Each commodity has a "prodeced by" in the description(e.g. Produced by: Refinery) that tell's you what type of system economy to aim for, then just use trading tab in galaxy map to filter out economy type's that don't match. Fastest way I've found.

yeah, I wouldn't look at it as cheating. What trader in any time period would head out into the unknown with a load of stuff, not knowing where he'd sell it?

Given the danger, time and expense, a smart trader is going to use whatever info they get to advise them on what to buy and where to take it. Tools like EDDB represent the networking/information leads that should exist in the 30th century.

agree 100%

You do know that if you go to the Galaxy Map/View you can filter by all the commodoties and see a coloured line for each flowing in the direction of trade.

That is all I have ever needed.

I personally do think the online tools are a form of cheat, even if you are just cheating yourself. You don't have the 'Internet' in space you are alone in your ship and the risk is all yours.
