In-Game Commodity finder

Is there an in-game commodity finder? Something that allows me to select a commodity and find the closest station that has it.

Currently I use 3rd party (web based) finders (eddb and thrudds)..but having one in-game would be great.

Well I think you can use the galaxy map (haven't tested this but this is how I think it should work). If you know what kind of economy produces the commodity (is shown in the detail view in the market), you can find a system of that economy in the galaxy map. Then buy market data for that system. Now you can show traderoutes in the galaxy map, and show only the commodity...if you see the export arrow, you should be able to buy the commodity there.

Yep, the galaxy map works well. Just deselect all commodities, and then select the one you wish to buy. Bear in mind you will have needed to have visited nearby systems for this to work properly.

so far, i have my laptop/iphone with me all the time so it has not been an issue...i just have them sitting next time me when i play ED...so its like another cockpit item....just curious to know if there was a direct way in-game...seems not as easy as using the websites i found.
