You need to use the form linked in the first post to submit names for inclusion on the in-game memorials.
Adding the name here won't do anything.
The updates happen roughly every 3 or 4 months, according to FDev. Here's the link where they post the last date they were updated.

Would it be possible to add locations that are a little more "exotic", for the beacons? They could become an in-game pilgrimage.

Very sad news today, one of our Elite commanders took his own life last night 
He was a very dedicated and passionate player, also played FE2, FFE back in a day.
Unfortunately his personal life was unbearable for him. Elite was his escape since the release. He did all he wanted to do in the game and when there was nothing left to do, he passed his account details to me, saying he's no longer going to be playing. A few hours later he's sent me a message indicating that he's going to take his own life.
We did everything we could, notified everyone we could... The police, family and friends were searching for him all night. Finally they found him in his home town, in the old family house. But it was too late
He is among the stars now, shining as brightly as ever. Here's to Cmdr Dziadostwo.
