In-game store

Dear FD,

Are there any plans to add an in-game store, maybe accessible through the Station Services, that would allow us to buy blings and things for our ships with real cash? I don't mean pay to win items like weapons or hulls, but cosmetic, fun personalization things like:

- Bobbleheads (they were in beta!)
- Holiday lights for the cockpit
- Various photos etc that can be pinned in different locations
- pins, medals, etc
- Emblems, more paint jobs
- Cockpit HUD layouts
- Nameplates for our ships. etc.

I think there's a great opportunity to monetize things a bit and there's probably an underlying demand for these sort of things among the players. I bet one artist @ 50k GBP dedicated to this type of thing could bring in a lot more than that in annual revenue.

THink of it ... looking around in your ship, and behind you on the wall is a beautiful wooden plaque, "HMS Intrepid est. 3296". So many possibilities... and so much cash to be earned lol

Omg, not the pay to win thread not the...

Oh it's not...

Phew...

Give me em' in-game online shopping <3

MechWarrior Online missed out (Last time I played) on having a cup holder. Seriously... We CMDRs get thirsty when doing our jobs! Also would love to have alternate tracer/beam options, Engine exhaust colors, Sticky notes plastered around the cockpit reminding you of certain things, a blown panel that your CMDR has yet to fix because "reasons", Cockpit glass engravings (various Skull designs, Rank Emblem, things like that), that sandwich that you grabbed on your way to your ship that you were still eating, a name plate for your ship... I want to add character to my vessels.

I agree with this totally.
This would be good way to get some more funds into the game.

As long as its nothing that gives an advantage. I dont like the SC buying ships and such. As long as its just bling for the ships and such i say cool.

Editing HUD layouts should be free if they get around to that.

I think this would be great too!

But also, there should be access to the community hub in game.

Not a big deal now its integrated with Steam, but native support would be better especially for HOTAS users etc.

I think any kind of client upload would be a tough sell!

I dunno. I played around with a shield and armour mod in Skyrim for ages. Made my own coat of arms and everything. Was ace in my opinion, just need to be careful with adult only content. My proposal would be to make it non-viewable to other players who do not tick an age-restriction option in settings. That will eliminate any inappropriate content for when we can board each others ships.

Slightly off-topic but getting back to OP I agree, if its visual and people are willing to pay then why not :)

I agree !
sins the FD store broke my immersion big time (I want/need zaonce.com back !) so if I could do it in game and buy things in an immersive way.

also what about elite theme social media , in game they talk of social media all the time and tell us to use it , what if they made one for elite !

so long as said "upgrades" can be transferred ship to ship, hwile I have bought a couple of paint-jobs I still don't like the idea of having to buy interior decorations for each ship I use.

It would be easier for it to just be restricted to just your system. Nobody else gets to see it at all. That would save FD a whole headache of worrying about minors having selected the (in)appropriate age setting. If you can get it on your computer, you can use it as either a map for a custom skin, or a poster in your cockpit, but nobody else will be able to see it.
.
Having said that, I'm all for as large a choice of ship skins, decals, and other visual customisation options. And I applaud FD for refusing to go down the "Pay to Win" route.

I dunno, keeping the Skyrim comparison a lot of people liked to show off their homes and amazing weapons, character mods etc. I'd probably enjoy showing off my smoking hot modded ship to friends in Elite... Maybe tie the setting in with the purchase so the person using the debit/credit card makes the decision if the user can see other players content or not. The cardowner puts a password in at time of purchase and the setting can only be changed with that password.
