Newcomer / Intro In-game text-comms

I've read about issues related to sending text-messages in-game, and how some people use Steam to circumvent the peoblems.
Am I not alone in seeing, at times, 100% of my ED in-game messages not getting through? On average, this is closer to a 95% failure rate.

You can't send messages across modes (aka from open to solo, from solo to group) but other than that I never had a problem.

Yup. And therefore OP - you have to address an important question before anyone can help you. WHO were you trying to talk to and WHERE were they? What mode were you in? Sol, Open, or Group?

Thanks guys; I had considered that may have been a problem, but we're both in the same "private group".
Also, could that have been an issue when using the lobby to communicate to someone in any game? Kinda defeats the purpose of having comms in a 'lobby'
