Newcomer / Intro In game time display in stations

I was wondering why the time displayed in my station is -1 GMT ? is there any way I can adjust it to the correct time ?

Cheers!

Yes, good point, I was a hour late to bed the other night much to my wifes displeasure because the Galactic clock was an hour adrift! It would be very useful if this could be configured to a users timezone, make it so FD!

There must be a standardized time in the game, and the devs chose one. There is no adjustment you can make, nor should there be. Keep a clock on your desk if you need to know the actual real-world time.

Because British Time is the best time in the Galaxy and therefore the galactic standard ;)

Its not British time its -1 GMT. Thats my point and being a British game as well, I thought it would be well you know, Greenwich and all that as standard :p

It is the actual real world time, just 1 hour out ! Also you cannot have a real world galactic time as there are no constants in space time over those distances due too the mass distortions. I suppose if I hung around near a black hole for a bit my clock would slow down enough for the game clock to catch up :D

You can't. It's "game time", not "local time". That's actually pretty common in some MMOs. It makes co-ordinating things between countries less nightmarish, actually :)

"That is what is used in game.

You are on GMT +1 (or BST)."

No my hanger shows -1 gmt not plus one. Unless Lancashire is on another time zone of its own :)

Lancashire does have its own timezone, it's GMT - 80 years. :)

As has already been explained the game is on GMT (or UTC), Britain is on BST (GMT +1) and Lancashire is on 1935 time.

hip hip hurrah for UTC ;)

Seriously though, and in the US, I'm a dev and the thing that bugs me the most about systems is that dates stored even the same system don't sometimes conform to ONE time zone.. Server updates mirror the time zone they sit in, while client updates mirror their time zone.

If there's one gift that I could gift to all systems everywhere is uniformity when writing a DateTime - and I'm all for UTC being that point of reference!

Seriously people. Why is it such a big deal? The time in the game is the time in the Elite Dangerous galaxy. Why do any of you think it should have any correlation to your own personal real-world time? If you need the game to remind you to go to bed or go to work, you have bigger issues to resolve.
