I'm a goon. been one for about 5 years or so.
I guess you could say I'm one of those meta-gamey ones from eve too.
I guess you could also say that I do a ton of the meta gamey stuff in this game, almost more than I play it. So I only have gotten up to a cobra so far. (well that and I refuse to trade :/ )
Basically its like this;
I read through all these goon-hate threads, and its somewhat hard not to take it personally.
Yes: some goons have been douches in other games.
Yes: some goons have a rather acerbic sense of humor.
Yes: some goons like playing "the big game".
However for every one that does, at least 100 don't. We are extraordinarily blessed in the fact we have representatives from around almost every country in the world in a frankly dazzling variety of professions. So lumping us in the same category just because of our name is pretty ignorant.
We are all aware of the reputation of goons, some of us relish in it, others just paid 10 bucks to join a forum where we didn't get a litany of "thats rad" and "me too" posts.
I enjoy my online community the same way you enjoy yours.
I have just come to accept the fact that this particular forum outright HATES the name.

Yes we make neat flashy commercials and ads and news reports, and wars and peace thingys (that were boring as *a bad word i cant say*)

Hell worst case we are great villains.
Best case?
We dump god knows how many tons of palladium for nothing just to get accused of yet another goon agenda apparently.
We didn't kill a single player in that event. Not that we couldn't.. not that it wouldn't have been great fun telling players "now you are being hunted"
Eh we just wanted to be distinctive and not from GOON FLEET.
Anyhow, this is what my forum will refer to as "touching the poop" because honestly we know what you think of us and heck,its not like you guys seem to be even reasonable as to changing your mind.

Because thats what we want in our not-so-massively-multiplayer-games.

But if we Could, PLEASE. Dont hate on some poor goon because of their name or affiliation. at least not in this toxic bile that recently even stirred my blood boiling over something stupid and petty.
You can hate on me all you want, as I am one of those eve meta gamey people, in fact I invite it. Just... for any time you feel like shaking your fist at goons and ripping some guy a question on the forums a new one for just being a goon, you know, someone may feel that way about you some day for just as dumb of a reason.
