In Preparation

The Horizon is fast approaching my friends.

In this thread id like to hear what you're up to before the drop. What ships are you building? How's the bank credit? Will you remember to feed the cats before leaving?

For the last week I've been trying out the Anaconda. A wonderful ship, however... It's not for me yet. I'll be definitely using one with ship launched fighters and multi-crew. But for now the smaller ships suit my needs. With that said, I'll be utilising;

- Cobra MK III for smuggling and canyon runs
- Asp Explorer for long distance exploration with the added SRV hanger
- Fer-de-lance for tackling settlements, RES and general hunting
- TBC! Id like to utilise another ship for something, so today I'm going to have a play around with the shipyard and outfitter and see what I can come up with. (any suggestions?)

So, what you up to?

I'll have new found use for some of my stored ships. My favorite explorer, the Diamondback, will get a shiny new gunship role with those large multi-cannons being added! Once ship launched fighters are added, my Gunship will become a true support craft. Hopefully by then, Frontier will put missiles into a good place, and I'll get some of Sirius Corp's hound pack rounds for that glorious missile barrage artillery gunboat.

I've got a orca for short range exploration and a conda for long distance so I don't get bored of the same ship

Grinding credits, mainly Robigo missions, im at 1.2 billion atm. I have a corvette for combat, a conda for exploration, asp explorer for long distance smuggling, an FDL just for fun. Future ships include a cutter for trading, which im currently grinding imperial rank on, maybe another corvette, just because i can.

Its hard to know whats going to be suitable for different tasks until horizons actually launches...

Im hoping for a couple of new ships, MAYBE the Panther Clipper?? Oh and matt black skins for my corvette(s)

At the moment I'm based at Cubeo in a FAS, killing stuff. When Horizons arrives I'm taking my Orca out into uncharted space

Atm I'm helping to win a war but I'm also trying to fit in Robigo missions so I can reach my latest goal of acquiring 5 billion before Horizons, then I will head back out to explore-)

I thought i was doing well having 1.2 billion, and around a billion in ships, Robigo missions are quite a grind but with 4 trips a day you can make as much as 120 million cr.

That's still impressive, i've done two successful robigo so far. After the 'incident' i had losing a 40mil run i've headed to Maia to explore a bit before i go back. I'll definitely have to see if i can make that much in a day!

Just a little shopping...
Just got done buying a I courier, I clipper, FDL, to upgrade them all with prismatics in a bit along with my cutter.
Just got done buying 750 merits for my faction so this Thursday I can buy another 40 imperial hammers for storage before I jumpship to prismatic lady

Doing a lot of trade loops atm, trying to get the credits for a trade 'conda. I'm also going to try to get up to rear admiral before FDev nerfs donation missions again, so that I can get a corvette.

Just trying to get home, currently 24kly from Sol.

After that, work on building my Imperial rank to buy a Clipper. I'm good on cash already even before my exploration data. I'm not rocking 9-figures or anything, but it can get me what I want for the time being.

You will enjoy the clipper, she's a beauty to fly (very fast at both speed and turning). Good amount of internal space aswell, only issues for me personally is getting used to the wide hardpoint placement, and the shields are a wee bit on the low side but doable, and she's a large landing pad so plan accordingly with that. Otherwise it's a fun lil ship.

I'm actually not doing anything different than I usually do, except the Fuel Rats CG, obviously.

There's nothing really different for someone inside the bubble to do in preparation besides make money. For the Explorers though...everyone has to book it home but it seems some people are actually leaving already.

I'm, erm, doing very important and very extravagant things in preparation for Horizons... Just like everyone else here!

...or I'm trying to find a handy RES to properly blood my not-nearly-as-upgraded-as-it-needs-to-be Viper Mark IV, as I inch my way up Federation ranks, in a seemingly Sisyphean attempt to get into the Sol system.

When I've upgraded the Viper, I'll make enough money to buy and upgrade either a Diamondback Explorer, or the Asp Explorer. Exploration's easily the most fun I've had in Elite so far (in the Cobra III), and so Horizon's going to make that aspect of the game even more engaging.

The only issue I have with the Asp's is that I think they're rather ugly looking ships. But the number of internals are a major perk for extended journeys, and they're obviously a substantial improvement over the Cobra.
