In space, no one hears your scream

Hint:That is because there is no air. Now that I got your attention, please consider this suggestion: make more realistic, non aerodynamic, space-only ships. What is the reason of retractable landing gear, and how can it slow down my ship. We are in space! Now, i understand that for Horizons expansion that makes sense. But otherwise, there is no atmosphere drag in space. I know this takes a lot of development, and art department can get sensitive, but just consider how beautiful are ships in Expanse universe: they are built for purpose. You do not need aerodynamics on large military ships, they should be bulky and intimidating. I just think, that this would add tremendous depth and reality to the game. I understand that you have kept true to the original design, but please that was wireframe graphics. Should not be a time this wonderful game grows up?

There are no aerodynamics.

Even in Horizons there are no aerodynamics. The only bodies you can land on are atmosphere-less.

When you deploy your landing gear, your ship simply limits your top speed because it assumes you are landing or at least doing close maneuvering, so you do not want to splat yourself into the surface. It's deliberate.

Yes that's a good idea, they could design all the ships with non-retractabkle landing gear, then once atmospheric bodies are accessible, redesign all the ships again to give them retractable landing gear!

Sarcasm aside, it's a matter of inconvenience that we can't yet access atmospheric planets/moons, but for purposes of role play, if you choose to do that, and/or background realism, if you choose to incorporate that in your backstory, we can land on atmopspheric planets, we just aren't allowed to at the moment by the guild. Planets are full of cities and space ports, cargo ships zoom up and down delivering passenger and cargo, those systems with umpteen billions in population have a thriving planet based economy that involves all the ships we own landing and taking off. Cargo ships like the T9 land all the time on atmospheric planets, passenger ships like the Orca and Beluga pick up and drop off from spaceports located near cities, patrol ship fly the blue, or indeed green or yellow skies protecting against pirates.

So, why would just the ships we fly not have retractable landing gear? Did they make a special model just for us?
