In System Map Odyssey Settlements No Long List In Alphabetical Order - Since When; Why The Change?

I left the bubble on April 6th and just got back. First thing I noticed is that in the System Map > Points of Interest Odyssey settlements are not listed alphabetically any longer.

Why the change?

This also applies to surface settlements and orbital ports in the System Map > Points of Interest.

I am guessing this happened with Update 15 the first part of May.

When looking for a particular settlement in a system with a large number it was much easier when the settlements were listed alphabetically.

Having a quick look, it appears they are listed according to the body they are on first, then alphabetically in that grouping, so that you will see all the stations on the one body in the same section.

Good thought, but that does not make any sense on Frontier's part since then my screenshot would go "A2E, B5, A1C" so that isn't logical either. If that is what they were doing then logically it would go "A1C, A2E, B5".

Maybe they are grouped by type of settlement? (The icon in the top right corner of their box.) ¯\(ツ)

It was fixed to alphabetical order during the UI revamp changes early on in EDO's lifespan. This was a fantastic improvement. If you want to view settlements in order of body, you look at the bodies.

This is an unintended reversal of that change, no doubt, most likely because they made some changes to the system map UI and got their change control messed up. And yes, it happened in update 15. I hope they fix it back. Trying to find a specific settlement is a lot more time consuming as it is now.

Yeh, a search would be fine but it was fine as it was (and I'm guessing way easier to fix back than add a search function now).

There's the update I was talking about, when they focused on improving the map UI specifically. There it is:

This was heavily asked for on the forums from when EDO launched until this update, which was a great patch.

@sallymorganmoore any chance this breakage could be reverted back to how it used to be, please? :)

Just to be clear, this is how it is now:

Prefect problem description @Ydiss , thank you for that.
I hope Sally can pickup and run with it.
Alphabetical sort option is needed as there is no other spot for it. As mentioned, if I want to search by body I can use the map itself. Cross-referencing and updating 30 ground sites to ensure INARA is current is so very painful right now.

The dream would be the UI would remember option to search ordered by name or by body, with an additional search bar at the top.

But a simple ordered list again would be a dream too.
