In the face of the stronger AI How is about lifting the nerve of the Python a little bit?

Nice that L5 engineer mods make the python as good as (or better than) the pre-nerfed version. But all other ships get L5 mods too and then Python is still the slowest brick of the building, I'm afraid. I love the ship but I don't think it will ever be as good compared to other ships as it used to be.

Even if every ship in the game automatically had every upgrade they wanted, not every pilot is going to want L5 dirty drives. :)

I fly a Python also, and it is true that you now REALLY have to know how to fly this ship. The AI is really really good at staying on your six, and the Python, while having a decent blue zone pitch, has a full speed pitch that's virtually non-existent. You absolute need to learn how to FA-Off Boost turn now with the Python if you want to even remotely have a chance to survive the new AI environment. Oh, and flying backwards. Or load up with lots of turrets and pile on the chaff and shield cell banks.

The Python is a great ship because of it's amazing internals and class 7 power distributor. But now, you need to look at more like a heavily armed trader rather than a true multirole.

The numbers do not lie. The python is one of the worst pitching ships in the game. The only ships worse in pitch rate are orca, T9, conda, and Cutter.
The bottom line is that unless your Python is a turret boat then it will get chewed up by the first dangerous rank cobra or viper NPC that you come across.

The python has basically become the ship that the T7 should have been. A medium size cargo hauler with lots of internals.

"Lifting the nerve" is my new favourite metaphor.

And I plan to use it around my horsey friends.

"Okay Imogen, how about lifting the nerve and mucking out the stable, while I go get fresh hay."

I also highly suggest putting some upgrades on the Python too. I'm up to grade 3 dirty drives and grade 4 FSD range boost, and it's been a very pleasant improvement. It's become my jack-of-all-trades ship.

I don't know about the nerve (nerf?) of the Python, but i'd like a buff to the Cobra Mk4, the Fed Dropship, and a pony.

Come on Ms moderator...tis kinda snarky isnt it? I think the OP is being genuine --like come on ref

Its really not that slow to get mods if you just work towards them, it make take a month but its not gonna take 3 years :p

Well its a RNG. So it could take a month, or if you're really unlucky it could take 6 years.
That's the problem with RNG, there is no guarantee of getting the drops you need at all

You're kidding right? Would you care to 1v1 me in my Python and find out what this T7 substitute can do? I'm yet to lose a 1v1 in it (although it's a bit of a liability in a wing fight I admit and 2 rail-de-lances did get the better of me a while back when they caught me but surprise)... but the Python is the king of 1v1s ;-) People don't realise how tanky it can be or that although it has quite a bad pitch rate it's the ship that benefits most in pitch increase when flown FA off.

the ai isnt so bad now. if i can      them in my conda your python should be fine. just dont take on small ships unless you have turrents.

Totally Agree with you Nerwan.

And for all thoose that think that the pony is too slow -> just get the 3 Dirty Drives ( which i did in an evening ).
Heres the Matlist and where to get: http://inara.cz/galaxy-blueprint/4

The Python i mean *cough* ^^

I shouldn't really argue about it.. the Python is a weirdly underestimated ship and I've been enjoying that status for some time now, so I wouldn't want it to change. Vultures/FASes/FDLs will all assume they can take you on really easily for example and suddenly discover you have thousands of MJ of shields in the tank and can fire fixed weapons on them while flying backwards...

Official list of Player Demanded Ship Changes:

Corvette needs a class 7 FSD!

FDL needs a class 7 FSD!

Python needs better pitch rate!

Cutter needs better pitch rate!

Clipper needs hard points that don't suck and more shields!

Did I miss one?
