Discussion Inara "Export to Coriolis" ignores engineering

As above really, not sure if it's a known issue, limitation, or if it should work?

Go into my fleet on Inara, select a ship, select "Export to Coriolis" and the build goes across, but doesn't carry across any engineering I have on modules.

Cheers

For me it does work fine. Was your inara updated recently? Perhaps your recent changes have not reached inara yet

Inara is showing recent data, and shows the engineering in the "Ship Loadout" correctly. Just doesn't show in Coriolis when I export.

I'm on Xbox, but doubt that makes a difference as Inara is aware of the correct ship config/my entire fleet/current location etc :)

Edit: Tried several ships and also different browsers.... no dice.

Edit 2: Export to EDSY works and has engineering (but has exclaimers as @GraphiteGB mentions below)

Think it was on discord were it was said none of them are fully working yet...
I know EDSY has disclaimers on import not to trust import yet...

I see some but not all engineering come through.
Usually the (visually) top two weapons are not carried over and anything with an incomplete engineering upgrade.

Not a problem on Inara - it's exporting the exactly same data as for EDSY, it means the blueprint level, progress and special effect. It's same for everybody and it's up to the target app/site (in this case - Coriolis) how it handles the data and translates it to blueprint parameters (or not). Please let the Coriolis author know it's a desired feature. :)

What I do in this case, is get into the ship I want to export and then use ED Market Connector and click on the ship name and takes you right to Coriolis with all ENG in place. You need to setup ED MC to use Coriolis in the settings, if that's what you want to use.

many are not PC game owners so we don't have any option to install add-ons so requires sites to work with out them if possible...
Its been confirmed that its the other sites not inara that are still not working correctly...
If you have an INARA account, you have a computer (right?) I don't think there's an INARA for XBOX or PS. So, this would still be your option to get your loadout into Coriolis. But again, can't really say what the experience is like on a console, but I do assume INARA still works with your CMDR regardless of platform, and so should ED Market Connector to see export of your ship loadout, fully. Maybe I am missing something. I would love to see INARA list your ship's complete details though, would be a great feature in INARA to be able to have a "built" in Coriolis type function ;)

Console accounts are stored on FDEV server... there not stored in linux or Mac computers ether...
Journals only exsist on PCs if the PC has the game and application installed and runs windows with Elite dangerous software and you played on that PC for the hole time... no journals, no way to use EDMC...
Inara runs on mobiles and tablets as its just a website and most things with upto date web browser, inara does not require a windows PC...

Hmm, I guess that's right... INARA pulls from some journal files stored on the PC. I didn't consider that and just assumed it pulled all it's info from FDEV's servers. That sucks. I am not sure how people play this game on a console. I have an XBOX account, but the quality is awful, the controls are insane to use. I tweak all my ships via Coriolis. Can't imagine not having access to that :( If I were someone that wanted to get the most out of ED, I would highly suggest a PC, and a good quality one. FDEV will move your CMDR account from say XBOX or PS to PC, but I get that not everyone can just run out and buy an expensive computer, monitor and HOTAS, but it's worth it if you can, IMO.

Venturing O/T but I'm more than happy on console. Game runs very well on Series X (and One X before). I bought a HOTAS last year and I've never used it, happy to play on my Elite Series 2 controller. I've not done too bad sat in front of my TV.... Almost triple elite, all the ships I want, 12.5bn in the bank, a fleet carrier with 6bn in its bank, happy days.

The only site that exports correctly the builds in Coriolis was EDSM. Inara, not so much.
And EDSM also allows automatically imports from FDEV/Consoles
