Newcomer / Intro Inara Quantity

Why are some quantity entries in red and some in normal white? I know if you hover over a red figure it shows how much you can bring in your cargo without the price dropping but what about the white figures?
But this also does not work well. I found that 25% of the stated quantity in Inara is not accurate and I suspect the figure is 25% of the remaining quantity at the station which may be different to inara's figures and which you wont know until you get there.

thats to be expected, its a third party tool not in game.
there are import tools which pull data from CMDRs accounts, but the data will not be fully complete and maybe out of date depending on who and what data is uploaded to Inara.

my account only collects data once per 24 hours. all my visits in between do not appear until later

i so wish the searches could be done in game. i know you can but the range is too small... i hope the range could be increased

I think the white numbers in the Demand column are usually fairly static because they tend to be large numbers and any normal delivery isn't going to make a lot of difference to the price in the short term.
If you only need small quantities, because demand is limited, then a significant delivery creates over-supply and forces the price down, so you get the red numbers as a warning.

And, as ebbrell said, the data is often out of date.

If you click on the red entries it will dispay the maximum qty of the commodity you should have in your cargo for that station to avoid a selling price decrease.
