Ships Incendiary ^ corrosive

Apologies if this has been asked before but...

Does the corrosive effect have the same effect on an incendiary m/c as it would with a laser, ie does corrosive allow an incendiary m/c to cause hull damage?

I'm thinking of equipping a Chieftain with 2 big incendiary m/cs, a little corrosive m/c and the rest lasers. Theory being that the lasers and incendiarys will chew through shields and the corrosive effect will then translate all the thermal firepower to hull damage.

Any help appreciated before I spent all my high grade mats....

Well for starters, the corrosive effect is temporary, lasting 3-5 seconds. It's a wonderful tool. I use it in "a" frag cannon and a good hit on the hull (after sheilds are down) allows my 2 large Beams to rip into the hull double fast. 2 other frags will also rip into the hull to dmg modules while the Beams continue to pour on the heat. Kaboom!
I know of nobody who uses the incendiary effect since the by product is thermal overload on your ship unless you've G5 other mods to compensate and installed heat sinks.
If you post your build however it would help other commanders to fine tune their responses to give you a more fine tuned answer

Yes, corrosive will increase the hull damage of both your incendiaries and beams. Incendiary MCs can get quite hot, so a thermal beam might be a good balancing weapon.

My suggestion would be to go Short Range on your big MCs (even G4 is good, saving mats and still a 2.4km range). SR adds no more heat, whereas Overcharged will increase heat on top of the high incendiary heat. High cap on small/corrosive MC.

This is the current ship build:

Your opinion & advice most welcome.

Should I change one of the hull reinforcements for a shield bank?
I know I am compromising by having jump booster and collector limpets but I like the flexibility of being able to jump around the place and pick up mats. Maybe I should go for a purely PvP/PvE build?

I did have the great idea of outfitting it with lots of rails (3x class 1, 1x class 2) but found it impossible to hit anything with any reliability. I targeted modules, messed about with deadzone settings but have eventually concluded that the xbox controller just doesnt have the sensitivity: apparently a HOTAS set-up works. So: back to trusty lasers and m/cs.

Why not switch tbe lasers to thermal conduit. The multis raise your heat, and thus your damage output from the beams.

Swap the size 2 to the corrosive multi, and stick a small pulse with emissive in the middle small.

This helps you hit more, so helps, and still gets the corrosive boost.

The beams get the heat boost, and corrosive boost, so become even more potent...

Thats how i would see it anyway, if you working from that incendary start place, use the other stuff to add to it.

That's a really interesting idea, makes me realise that there's a lot which I havent been considering.
This build was seriously overheating, even with the lasers thermally venting, I'm now trying with efficient m/cs, swapped the size 2 for another m/c. Has allowed me to change the power to low emissions too.
I've been in and out of the CG CZs, mostly getting my ass handed to me, but loving the engagement with other cmdrs and refining this combat build. Interesting seeing other builds; I've been hit hard by rail equipped corvette, suffered drive-by from mambas and swarmed by SLFs. I'm trying to build something which can fight back. The problem may well be me however.
