Incendiary Rounds
Modified ammo system capable of delivering superheated rounds, increasing damage and converting a large portion to thermal.

Can anyone confirm, this actually means they work more like lasers than actually delivering heat damage right? Basically making them more like fragmentation lasers?
 
I got these on huge multicannons on Corvette. This mod makes your kinetic weapons more effective vs shield and reactive armour ships. It does increase damage too. Downside is that it won't be that effective vs hull as before (although better than lasers) and fires little slower.

Yes, Incendiary Frags are like very fast firing short range scatter railguns (rather than laser). They do take shields down very, very quickly indeed. Add in a corrosive one and you get a nasty mix.
(And if one wants to lay down the pain on fast nimble ship, add a drag amo frag XD)

Thanks both. And yeah, was looking at the other effects as well.... some nasty combinations to be had there.
 
Frag cannons fan here, i tested against another player my incendiary frags. The shots never ever overheat his ship, the heat remain constant. But the incendiary ammo for frags are very very good for taking down shields.
I also tested screening shells, and if you fight against big slow, whales (aka big ships), and if you are in a decently fast and nimble ships (FAS with quad frags for example), you get 3 seconds reloading time, down from original 5 seconds. This means a boost in dps and if you have also lvl4 frags with double shot your raw dps it's really awesome.

Well, ever since i saw Rinzler's video about the Gunship, i've had dreams of doing similar with frag canons, which i've not utilized much, and only recently got rank for the gunship. So.... 7 frag canons, with a selection of effects. That could be interesting. Of course, it handles like a brick.

But i'm thinking, kit out with HRPs, go charging in, frags to the face from point blank range, and follow up with a ram. It sounds quite nasty to my mind.

Thermal damage and thermal effect are two very different things.

Thermal damage = damage that is affected by the thermal resistance modifier, has no bearing on ship heat. (Works very well against shields unless the shields have had their thermal resistance modified)
Thermal effect = heats up ships (thermal resistance makes no difference)

OP: Incendiary frags are awesome, but they did take a minor neft two patches ago. They now heat up your ship a bit as you fire them.. best to have a mix of incendiary and other effects.. Corrosive frags are good, only worth having one though..

Yeah i noticed the nerf, heat when you fire them up with incendiary. With a quad frag FAS even if you are not in silent run you get sometimes the message about heat levels, and if you are in silent running mode well .... the nerf it's pretty obvious.
And this is the reason i started to test screening shells :D
