CQC Incentive to play CQC?

Hey guys,

I'm a relatively new player and so far I'm loving the game. I have a suggestion to get more people to play the CQC since I've noticed no one really seems to be in matchmaking... Could we provide some incentive to play CQC? Maybe skins/bobbleheads/etc? Some sort of rewards system that would help incentivize main game players to engage in CQC? Anyway, just my two-cents...

Thanks!

If you get to prestige rank (effectively rank 51) you get a permit that's quite useful - the station there has some nice discounts (some slightly better than available elsewhere), plus guaranteed access to all ship components.

this is the only reason why i'm currently playing CQC, and i must confess i'm finding it a lot more enjoyable than i thought it would be.

Play it here to its nice to just have fun playing the game and not worry about rebuy screens. It's a pity match making takes ages though I have to wait at least five minutes in the evenings to even get a glimpse of a game.

I tend to agree with OP. I've attempted CQC 3 times because it looks like a blast, unfortunately I've never played a match because no one else appears to be interested. I got to 5/8 in matchmaking after about 5-10 minutes last night.

I've played a ton of Destiny and other FPS like Halo, CoD, etc. Those games usually have random rewards after a match to encourage people to play. I know paint jobs and bobbleheads are FD's income, but something needs to be done to get people to try CQC. Tonight I think I'll just enter a lobby and grab a book and wait it out.

Because its fun?
Maybe I am old fashioned (not like the horrible movie , mind) because I play games if I like them.

However CQC is a great training ground for open combat , and lets you get a few creds (not much however)

I dont think it's a good idea. They already had to basically make CQC a standalone game because when it was just part of ED, no one cared about it (it's a different genre really). Forcing people to play it to get something would really      people off.

Best incentive to play CQC is that it's tons of fun. If that's not what you want and you are rather after in-game monetary rewards, you should look somewhere else (trading etc.)

Only its not tons of fun.... unless you like watching matchmaking screens?

Who wants to be Helpless forever? ;)

Me, I'm aiming for a bit of a semi-respectable PF rank to make my pilot status screen look a little less lopsided. Oh, and all that stuff about improving fighting skills and stuff. :p

Ranks are nice, but I'm playing CQC to make up for the shortfall in CR I have for a ship buy-back. Insurance loan calculations are -ed from my pov (loans are treated as income and the 10% comes off the top, so if you need to borrow 2.5M, you need an extra 250k to cover the cost of borrowing, which is turn can jack your needed loan above the maximum amount) and I don't have enough to cover the creditor's cut on the loan. (insurance cost < cr on hand + max loan < insurance + creditor's cut on loan).

Which is why I think CQC needs to increase the CR rewards after each map. I've only netted 1.5k with a win on DM. I've yet to see a CTF or TDM pop.

I play it for the fun, to get better, for the challenge, I was looking forward for a badge in main game (And was sorely disappointed there is none. I would love to strike fear into puny mortals as thay see my CQC badge :D "Ohmygod, he playing that murderous nonsense. Those guys have insane skills, let’s get out of here before he notices us."), I hope I’ll get some credits in main game.
Broken matchmaking - both in endless queue and being queued against far superior players - and weapon powerup are the things that ruin the game for me atm.
I would like to see more team deathmatches, I would love to play that Capture the flag.

I come from a PvP background, I always end up playing arenas of some sort, I guess that’s my cup of tea, however I noticed that PvP is always the underdog. No love for PvP, up to a point where (and this seems to be the case here too) gamebreaking bugs are not addressed for a VERY long time.
What I do like is that at the end everybody has more or less equal ground - same ships, same weapons, same everything. Ultimately it’s about skill. That’s a HUGE plus.

I see people wanting bots. I agree they could fill up missing spots but then the prestige from the title would decrease. Also I am a bit concerned about hackers taking over bots and commanding them to attack one cmdr. This kind of issue is never efficiently addressed by mmo companies and we could end up with having less players that without them. I would prefer to see some other way to increase the number of CQC players, but I am afraid there is none.

I like that you have to pay for the game. It’s super-cheap but it’s a paywall against hacking kids. The demographics in this game seems to be middle age. With that comes a more mature and respectful attitude that is common in other games. I like that, I am quite sick of constant verbal abuse, spamming and botting found elsewere. :)

I am not sure how to lure more players in. Not fixing the game won’t help it though.

I was under the impression that this was going to be a feature in 2.1. I guess we'll have to wait for 2.2.

First time I'm hearing something like that.

how about a fraction of prize money for consistent players too?

if you play for long enough and gank enough noobs you will win a mention on reddit ;) .

for my take on this really though . Yes i agree with the OP . Personally i played CQC once and was hooked . I virtually forgot the rest of the elite universe was there .

But i would like more people to play it . I am nearly 50% of the way to legend and reckon i have made about 4 million in credits in 16 days of CQC ( measured by stats ) , i can make that in a good day in the elite universe bounty hunting . So yes . More incentive to play and increase player numbers . Whether its cash or kudos . Anything to increase the player base of what i feel is an amazing gaming experience .

I play it from time to time when the trip around the galaxy gets tiring and I need a break. I find I am now ranked 21 but I'm not very good. I die a lot but my rank keeps slowly creeping up. I wish it didn't, at least until such time as I was at able to hold my head up a bit higher :)

It's quite fun in itself but it does make me feel I'm, letting the side down.
