Income tax.

As I earn more in real life, I have to pay more in real life.
This auto-nerfs my disposable income...so why not in the game?

So to avoid another skimmer / passenger mission of oodles of credit bug / exploit you could:

  • Have an income tax that increases as a % of earning over a time period - E.G one day
  • Have a top rate of 80-90% when you are getting more that 10 mil from the mission board
  • different security systems would have different tax rates (anachy = no tax, ....., high = really expensive).
  • More profit from smuggling, as you would avoid tax.
  • Taxes based on income from missions
  • Taxes based on commodities.

Sounds like a lot of paperwork and Audits and trying to figure out what bracket you are in. And then do married commanders get tax breaks? Do you get tax breaks for having children? Do you have to pay a tax for working in a system other than where your ship is based?

I'm out! If they add this I will not pay my taxes. They can lock me up!

Automatic tax is pointless, may aswell just reduce payouts by X%, and manual tax is annoying, I don't want to have to work it out.

So no.

Lol

Plus, if you want income tax, hire some SLF pilots. :p
Mine take a huge chunk of my wages. Greedy b********s...

Additionally, since it has been made INCREDIBLY obvious that players do not claim residency, whom am I paying this tax to?

If I am being taxed, I demand the rights as well as the responsibilities, and those traditionally include owning real property.

Finally, taxation without representation!
