So this thread aged as well as choices on it...
Thankfully, I was wrong, so it looks like we're getting at least one more year for support. If not more.
So I'm gonna do my thing, lay out my predictions/wishes for 2023. I'll try to make this one more closer to "predictions" side, now somewhat knowing how Frontier likes to format their DLCs. However they'll still heavily rely on my personal wishes. Best of both worlds.
Thoughts are split on whether next pack will be scenery or an animal pack, because of the Twilight pack "breaking the pattern". I'm one of those who believe the pattern switch was exclusive to this year, for this reason or another, but the main point is: I believe we're starting of with animal pack again.
One theme seems to be on everyone's minds still so:
Spring 2023: Rainforest Animal Pack
1. Two Toed Sloth - Definite headliner if they can pull it off
2. Tree Kangaroo - Lancer of the pack, not uncommon for us to receive two new rigs
3. Spider Monkey - Theme screams for another New World monkey. This one is popular and can utilize brachiation frame
4. Red River Hog - Gaining more and more popularity here. I think it's an easy pacifier that doesn't require new behavior
5. Asian Golden Cat - That one "re-skin" of the pack. Also a cat. I believe they can sell this one under all those crazy color variations
6. Mantled Guereza - I don't see how can we expect to end up with satisfying number of primates in game, if two in the pack is not likely. I am allowing myself two, at least they're from different continents
7. Azara's agouti - And now the oddball of the pack. They love those. I don't see it talked about much here, but also believe they shouldn't be hard to make. Also that SA rep
8. Emerald Tree Boa (E) - I'm not going into Birds or WE territory in this thread, as I have no idea what new to expect on that front. Every new inclusion will be welcome.
Summer 2023: Islands Pack
1. Tasmanian Devil - Long time waiting
2. Fossa - Perfect choice for the pack and for tying up the Madagascar fauna
3. Kiwi - This one is the second selling point. Maybe even headliner for general audience?
4. Tanuki - I see this as that oddball choice. Also adds to diversity of represented biomes
5. Panther Chameleon (E) - If only ever get one classical Exhibit animal then for sure that must be Chameleon
Autumn 2023: Drylands Animal Pack
1. African Crested Porcupine - No brainer
2. Arabian Sand Cat - We're not escaping carnivorans anytime soon. This one, I can see, could do wonders with general audiences
3. Collared Peccary - Just all around great pick. Species, biome, location and popularity-wise
4. Hamadryas Baboon - Old world monkey, true baboon, popular monkey...
5. Perentie Monitor - I know it has a poor representation in NA and EU, but when has that stopped us. It should be easy to make, and would enrich AU sections
6. Rock Hyrax - Here's that oddball choice. At least looking at popularity here. Would be an interesting choice however
7. Addax - I think Frontier could truly do this beautiful antelope justice
8. Egyptian Cobra (E) - That other evading exhibit animal along the chameleon. They could even give one of that small looped animation, for when it rises up
Anniversary: Dromedary Camel - I didn't want to take any spots in a pack, for an animal that can be easily crafted for anniversary
Winter 2023: Highlands Pack
1. Andean Bear - I feel like ideas for this pack have been solidified. This one would add that final touch to out SA roster
2. Alpine Marmot - Closest this pack has to oddball. A nice companion for Ibex
3. Wolverine - I am not leaving without this one
4. Sichuan Takin - Tough choice between numerous Asian caprids. I feel like Takins are most unique
5. Eyelash Viper (E) - I have no idea for this one, might as well
So that's it. I wouldn't complain if we end on this note, pretty rich roster, but also wouldn't be surprised if there's more to come.
What are your thoughts for road ahead?
