Incursion?

In A 1.1. Anaconda was simple because Sidewinder's weapon range was 500 larger than Anaconda's. So you could destroy it from safe distance.
In A 3.4. both ships have the same weapon range so different tactics should be applied.

Why do you attack Anaconda head on? It's lasers obliterate you very fast.

First time I got to incursion I got near the end then the game client crashed :eek:

Been too chicken to try it again since. Will do so at the weekend.
 
I can get to wave 7 every time and lately managed to get to 9 .... But still not all 10 .....

Alas, never got past 8. I sometimes manage to take one of the ships but the other three turn me into spacedust from behind while I'm at it. It's annoying. :mad: If other people can do it then so should I!

I haven't got past wave 8 either.

I have the good excuse that I just changed my joystick, so I have to learn piloting again from the beginning. :D
 
Not realy tried incursion, been setting my x52 profile up. Saw your post so decided to give it a go. Took about 10mins start to finish and destroyed the Anaconda first go, got right up its exhaust so it couldn't hit me. Seems ive got my X52 profile in the sweet spot :))

The force is strong with me :p
 
Can get to wave 7 every time, but without a little gamey reversing, I haven't gone past wave 7. I seem to explode in seconds otherwise...

Right, time to man up and un-check the absolute throttle; that way I'll be boldly going forwards, because I can't find reverse.

:eek: Very interesting video psykokow - I spent the whole thing just looking at your shields and energy distribution! Well, for the moment I'm going to live in hope that A1.1 is harder (a lot harder!) than the other versions!

I can get to 8 every time, and have got to 9 a few times (once with 100% hull!) but never lasted long enough to figure it out.
 
Atm i get to wave 7 but usually i am to beat up by the cobra to put up a fight vs several nimble fed fighters, i am trying avoid use back wards flying, purely forward flying for me :D

Completely with you on that one. I don't fly backwards and get to wave 7 every time.
 
The trick with the Cobra is to stick as close to him as you can. Boost and full power to engines when you chase him, then split power between weapons and systems when he comes round for his attack run. Keep his attack runs as short as possible and put every bit of fire you can muster on him.

When he breaks off his attack, put your weapon power up to full and track him as long as you can. As soon as he gets out of your sights, bump power to shields and engines and chase him down. Keep shooting at him but watch your weapon heat - you don't want your weapons to be hot when he comes at you, you want to be shooting back.

He'll always get away from you but if you keep his range as short as possible you minimise the damage he can do on his attack runs.

I have no idea if this is the best way to do it but it's the way that works for me.

When he starts turning away from you distribute power to weapons and engines. You can even distribute 3 pips to engines, boost whenever you can. Shoot. At some point Cobra might stop breaking away from you and start maneuvering.

Having more pips in systems does not speed up shield recharge. If you have: at least one point (here I am NOT referring to PIPS) in the systems bar shields recharge at full speed
if the bar is empty - very slowly
if the bar is full and no energy at systems - still full speed
bar empty and no energy to systems - recharge stopped completely

I do not know if more energy to systems makes shields tougher in A 1.1 but this is definitely so in A 3.4.

just charge head on and try to get 1st kill as quick as you can. thats the only way for me.

I still can't get through wave 8. best i can do is 2 kills before i became a firework in space.
 
After watching Psychokow's video I tried last night - got to level 10 twice out of 4 attempts and made a classic error in being impatient on attacking the Anaconda - reminded me of the original Elite game - fabulous!!!

In Alpha 3.4 it won't attack you unless you attack first, so I use this to get into the right position for attack, i.e. behind Anaconda.
