Indications that more AX/Guardian stuff is coming.

Various reports in Galnet over the last weeks regarding Ram Tah; Sirius trying to get hold of his research by fair means or fouls, Aegis now stepping in to ostensibly protect him. Which would indicate the his work is still ongoing, and therefore likely to bear more fruit - hopefully the kind of fruit that dangle from a Class 4 hardpoint.

That or some of the guardian-weapons will be rereleased in a weaker but non-restricted version.

We still need to fill in the missing core modules and then a ship that synergizes with them fitted, possibly in a way that makes those core modules equivalent to G5 engineered ones.

I get the thinking but the whole idea behind the guardian core modules seems to be to placate ppl reluctant to engineer several modules by offering them a one time unlock at the expense of slightly decreased stats (and a bit more thermal)

By all means add additional core modules into the mix but the one time unlock vs individually upgrading them by farming mats means they should always perform slightly worse due to the effort involved

The disadvantage compared to engineering of a guardian ship will be that you will not have the same flexibility and the bonuses don't necessarily need to be the same as engineering offers. A fully hybrid fitted hybrid ship would be at best a sidegrade to a fully engineered ship of the same size.

With their sky-high power, heat, and WEP requirements, combined with their damage output, Guardian weapons are already weaker.

If we get something for them, I'm hoping for "new technology" that represent a balance pass on everything - improved heat and power management on Guardian weapons, the ability to engineer them or just default them to more comparable damage to engineered kit, adding Guardian-like better normal damage to AX weapons, C1 AX weapons, and C4 versions of at least some Guardian and AX stuff.

With more Thargoid stuff coming very soon, we really need updated combat gear to deal with the threat, and that gear needs to be less specialized.

We're in a kind of weird place right now where on the one hand FD touts their game as "one lone pilot in an uncaring galaxy", and seems to actively go for a "lone anti-hero" feel, but the outfitting game expects us all to own vast fleets of specialized ships. Those two do not mesh well.

Where are all the actual Guardian Ships? Why have we never found one? I'm hoping that big permit locked region out in Guardian space opens up and some new tech is discovered (hopefully not their AI gone full-Berzerker though...)

Gimballed versions would probably please the most players. (And be the least work)

Indeed. The turret versions don't work well. Gimbals are an obvious enhancement which would open up Thargoid content to a wider player base for minimal development.

i only thing that with the "scenario" feature and thargoid invasions connected to the BGS, we may get some station-repair CGs max.

we finally can make station immune to UA bombing - maybe AX gear (non guardian stuff) will get its limit lifted, or engineering allowed.

So some cheeky git living in a shed out in the sticks is going to invent something that forces us to jump through hundreds of hours worth of grindy hoops else our ships become obsolete?

Could we maybe have a CG to find and kill him?

I think when the Thargoid mothership finally lands on earth, it will set up shop and we will get a Thargoid Tech Broker.

Guardian FSD
Guardian shield generator
Guardian thrusters

and possibly a Guardian/human hybrid ship is my guess.

Maybe a Guardian heat sink, requiring even rarer materials for synthesis.
The Guardian rockets could be made available to players (maybe a bit more powerful).
A Sentinel-swarm to counter the Thargons, arranged in a triangular formation.

Class 4 gaurdian cannon is my dream

How would you balance it?
Balance it to Corvettes Hardpoints so - a close double Class 4 Gauss hit is needed to destroy a Cyclops Heart (as is currently the case with a typical 3/4 Class 2 Gauss loadout) beef up their Regen massively and scale progressively upwards with Basilisk/Medusa...thus making Interceptors MUCH harder (and in some cases probably impossible) for more commonly used medium ships
Or are you merely NOT looking to balance it at all and just make Thargoids boringly easy?

you know, you can make weapons increase their firepower by Rate of fire too... not only damage per shot...

increase their firepower by Rate of fire too... not only damage per shot

Increasing the rate of Fire increases DPS in exactly the same way as increasing damage does...its just the time die of the damage over time equation...
