Dinosaurs Indominus Rex Improvement

Making the Indominus Rex be able to camouflage as currently, besides its looks of being a hybrid, it doesn't really stand out as much as in the movies as being this all-impressive hybrid. I thought by giving it an ability to camouflage like it did in the movie the Indominus Rex could truly resemble its movie like form or at least close to it but also by having the ability to camouflage it could stand out from all the other dinosaurs in the game besides just its looks and sounds. (Note: By having this camouflage ability like it did in the movie it could add an extra layer of danger to contain it as it could disappear from you sometimes and when you physically try to look for it you can't until it gets out of camouflage or you can still see it if you open up the map as the its icon will show where its located. Can't make it too difficult)

Honestly, while i support varied behaviors, this may be too much work for one dino and frankly i despise the hybrids as they are just silly movie monsters and not dinosaurs. Even their design is laughable, over the top and just doesn't fit in with anything else, like typical modern Hollywood nonsense of " oooh make it look badass". I never make these guys as they just ruin my immersion. The amount of work i see taking for the art team to create the shaders needed for this thing to camo and then the programmers actually implementing this very specific behavior and how the rest of the game interacts with it may be a bit too much in the point of diminishing returns.

It's true, it would make it stand out a lot and as i said before i like variation, but i couldnt care less about the hybrids so eh, I'd rather time and effort be put into other things. That said, that is only my personal opinion and the idea, on it's own is good.

Now I do agree with you on the issue of this idea being possibly difficult, the idea would make the Indominus stand out. Yes, I know people have their opinions on hybrids and that they can ruin immersion, however you have to think of it this way the idea of hybrids was central to Jurassic Park/World franchise even returning to the movie screens. Since this action has been done we can't push aside the idea, we have to embrace it even though Jurassic World 3 won't have hybrids, the first two movies did and was central to the plot and themes. That is why I do believe the Indominus Rex should have this ability because it would make it resemble the awe that the creature had in the movie and also give us players something more to deal with and see. Though I do agree that there are more important things that need to be added, in my opinion a drastically improved environment creation tools and options (I.e. More ground brushes, varied tree variety, varied shrub variety, etc.) . Though we can't ignore that the Indominus Rex was made and we should try to have it stand out from the other dinosaurs besides its looks and sounds if possible by having this ability. At least we can agree on the idea being cool in and of itself.

I agree with Davidblac in general.

I'd settle for the Indominus not being possible to be seen on the map after a breakout as it ripped it's tracker out like in the movie.

The thing is though what if you never have breakouts or you are so good at maintaining the park that it never breaks out, then you will never experience it. The chances of it breaking out are few and far between versus the chances it is in its cage and either stays or tries to break out but doesn't succeed at all. Going forward, my issue is the way the Indominus Rex is portrayed in and of itself. Most of us players like looking at our dinosaurs and experiencing them, despite the few behaviors so far, and the Indominus Rex besides the fact its a hybrid by the looks and sounds it isn't that distinguishable or more exciting to watch compared to a T-Rex. With the camouflage it would give it a unique animation that no other dinosaur in the game will have and make it a little more exciting to watch. Also by giving it that ability it could make it harder to spot physically as you stated Marky but just in a different way. You can say the ability kills two birds with one stone. The ability would be both a unique animation to it and a make it a little harder to contain.

Okay slightly off topic but for those of us who are good at maintaining the park - frontier could add more 'chaos' to spice things up. I'll leave specifics on that for a separate thread though....

Back to the Indominus being able to camouflage, I just think this would be a lot of work for the dev team to invest in what really isn't a game changer. I'd rate this as a great idea, but not high priority - 'a nice to have' if you will. I mean there are how many species in this game now and we are talking about a lot of advanced graphical implementation for one species (that isn't actually a dinosaur!)? If Frontier ARE able to do something to add this at some point though, I'd suggest them also enabling Carnotaurus to be able to camo to some extent too. It could in the novel Jurassic Park: The Lost World.

Marky I do agree that its not a priority even in my own opinion. I just wanted to put the idea out there so if and when the Devs can get to it, after tackling the more priority issues, then they could possibly add the camouflage idea. I just didn't want this idea to remain unknown to the Devs. So after they tackle all the priories most especially environment creation, and then of course others, then after all that they could maybe look into this idea.

Dear Moderators,

I think it's time to close this thread because unless my idea adds something else to the Indominus Rex camouflage idea addressed in the Secrets of Dr. Wu DLC then the Developers should not waste their time looking at a thread for an idea that was already addressed.

But I want to thank the developers so much for the hard work in bringing this idea to life and for their continued development of this game. I look forward to seeing the camouflage on the Indominus in action and for the continued development of very interesting paid DLCs and updates in the future.

Sincerely,
IndominusSun
