Inertial Impact, DON'T DO IT!

You need to start & watch both videos simultaneously for the best effect.

I was quite disappointed, I was expecting something like G5 Rapid Fire. [hotas]

Think I will have to get something else .. dangit.

We tried to publicize on the beta forums how the jitter on the inertial impact makes it unusable except at point blank range with gimbals.

It's quite crazy bad. But on the other hand I can understand why Frontier keeps it this way. Because it's either useless or borderline OP, just like incendiary rounds but with no ammo limits. Still, they need to chop the jitter way down. Maybe add a heat penalty or something.

God, cannot stop laughing, that music with the laser firing :D

And yes, inertial impact should work as incendiary for rounds, with some other downside other than the overdone jitter that makes them pretty useless.

With practice, it is possible to achieve quite good time on target with inertial impact, when aiming at the larger planets.

I heard that FD used a PA modded with inertial impact effect (available only to them) to draw the craters on planets..

They actually Frame Shift Jump in Sidewinders at planets. The results explain why we need to lock on to a star.

Apologies for the necro, but I was considering fitting Inertial Impact on some Bursties, but thank god I did some research and found this thread 2 years down the track.

Is the effect still this dramatic? Surely the intent can't be for the weapons to be that inaccurate?

Yeah, the jitter on inertial is still pretty bad. iirc, it's 3 degrees of jitter, compared to 0.5 degrees on G5 rapid fire, 1.7 degrees on pacifiers/cytos, and 5 degrees on frags.

So yeah, It's pretty bad unless you can get in REAL close. On the bright side, it does synergize quite well with frags, shock cannons, and the short range mod since you need to get in close to use them anyways.
