Newcomer / Intro Info panel warning icon

I occasionally see an icon (red exclamation point in a red triangle) in the info panel on the upper right of the hud. I assume this is a warning of some kind but there is no indication as to what it's about. Is it always about the same particular issue or is it just a generic warning about any number of issues? How do you find out what it is trying to tell you?

I believe it indicates that you are on a collision course with something, but may be more general (can not remember if it is also used for over temperature)

It is a general warning, be it going too fast, being on a collision course with something, other ship deploying the hardpoints, module damage... I don't know how many of them there are.
If you don't do anything, it's usually followed by more specific warning.

It's just a general "Hey, something's up" light bulb.

Sort of a "Check Engine Light"? It's up to the player to figure out what's going on? That's kind of lame.

I also pops up if you power plant hasn't got enough juice and some modules have been disabled. You can check this in your power distribution priority list on the RH panel, but like mentioned above, it can mean a plethora of things.

The warning also shows up whenever you are in combat, whenever you see it, you know the 15 seconds timer will show up if you want to log out of the game.

Shows up when you're taking on heat too, not necessarily heat damage, just getting a bit toasty.

You could change it from red to blue, but it would mean changing the bulb
