Information Availability Vs. Figuring it out Ourselves

I've always been okay (not happy, but okay) with the lack of information provided by FD regarding how to play this game. Generally you can find things out by trying them, or by reading up on what others have tried. All this has been fine when we were playing a flight/galaxy/trading simulator.

Powerplay is different. You have just slapped a turn-based strategy game on top of the flight model. But the turn-based strategy game has rules of which we are unaware, and the lack of a rulebook is making life very difficult for people trying to play the game. We have no idea if any unexpected outcome is a correct or not, if it is a misunderstanding of the rules or a bug. Because the rules could be arbitrarily complex and we have no clue. And this is not fine when we are playing a turn-based strategy game.

Please take the time to write down the rules for Powerplay and publish them somewhere. I'm sure you can see how much combined player time has gone in to Powerplay in just the last week, and for a lot of it we're in the dark. We don't have a spare galaxy with which to experiment, we don't have the ability to go back in time and fix mistakes, give us the rules so we know how to play the game.

I have to agree, the lack of information coming out is frustrating. All it would take is a Dev to pop his head in these forums & answer a few random questions from time to time. Like why has Li Yong-Rui only got 258 spare CC to spend this cycle? Was all that fortifying & expanding last week for nothing? It should be closer to 700. Reading a manual won't give me the answer to that.

In the future there is no data transfer or data in general. Corporations and stations rely solely on word of mouth for their dealings, this is the future!

No, I'm not happy with the level of information supplied to us by fdev, mainly because it makes no sense on any level in or out of the game.

When following FDs progress from early beta up to and after release, something is quite clear, they got some organizational difficulties within.

One boss calls in sick for one day, no dev report gets released that week.

i started from beta and waited years in hope of a new elite game, i play this still but i feel it is more of a bigger fish simulator than a space game, trading aside.

PP is more smoke n mirrors to make you think you make a difference, as previous tests from the community proved, trying to push the back ground simulator into doing something. it comes down to some one at FD playing god and deciding what happens.
think what would happen if everyone pledged to 1 power and went crusading

they soon stopped David from doing the youtube dev diary's because he was making promises that they didn't like. they wheel his forum name out to ansew 10 hand picked questions out of 100's. there is no transparency with this company

Only Frontier could design a system where you can read the manual and look at all the numbers and still not know what the hell is happening.

I'm with you on this one! +rep

This for all intents and purposes serves the same function of the self checkout lanes you find in stores nowadays, it's the subtle mind trick of making you feel self empowered while in reality your actually working for the store and didn't know it.

They need to make both the Rep and rank up systems more clear. If your going to have people grind, you need to add some display of their progression: because that is the motivation for grinding in the first place.
