information in galaxy & system map viewa

There is no name displayed for what you're 'in' while looking in Cartographics (the galaxy and system maps), but it could be there.
In the top right of the screen, you could have text with what you're 'in'. Maybe this could be an optional thing for how it's formatted and if it's displayed or not.

For the galaxy, 'THE MILKY WAY'. In future, who knows, maybe we'll be able to see other galaxies.
For a system, it could be 'THE MILKY WAY - GBEKREE'

As you go deeper in, it could display more info similar to a file path.

In 3 years I think we've explored 0.001% of the galaxy (that's probably high). Why would we need more galaxies?

Oh, I really meant that just for consistency. That way, each system you're looking at in the galaxy map would have some name in the same spot describing what you're looking at.

And though we dont need other galaxies, yet, who knows what they have in mind. At the moment, we can travel between star systems based on a theory. If some theory came out, allowing galaxy to galaxy travel, that would be something possible to pursue.

Plus, how much will we have explored in 10 years? 20? Hook up the biological interface, and go exploring. Here's to hoping they keep the same database.

God, I hope not.. This suggestion reminds me of Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda. Nice idea, terrible execution. Besides, if the Milky Way has 100 billion stars and this sandbox is life-like to that... You don't think that's enough stars for the current player base to find? Especially when you consider how much cherry picking I've seen when I'm out in the Deep Black away from "civilization"?

As for what you're asking for... I haven't a clue and think it's because I'm in a pre-caffeinated state. Can you be more clear, please?

Essentially, I'd like the name of the system or planet to be displayed somewhere while viewing the various maps. Currently, it's not like that.

You mean besides the System Map:

In-flight on partially (and even completed) surveyed systems:

On the Dashboard like in Civilized/Populated systems:

In-Flight Navigation (#1 Key) Menu:

And the Galaxy Map:

If you're not seeing this information you're either too zoomed out, or overwhelmed with all the information on the screen. It takes time and after a while, you don't even think twice about it.
