Horizons Inhabited Lifepods (Stolen!) Question?.

I am on the way back to my homebase from a long distance exploration trek. I have picked up quite a bit of cargo from crash sites etc including 20 inhabited lifepods. A few weeks back on the way out I came across some barrels of stolen cargo but left it thinking that it would more than likely cause me problems on my return to the bubble. However today I found another wreck with 6 inhabited lifepods in the wreckage. When I got back to unload them at the ship I saw they were marked as stolen with an exclamation mark besides. I loaded them all up as unlike the stolen cargo I did not want to leave "living" people behind, (I know, it's just a game etc, etc but I am 2000+LY from the bubble and that's just the way I am. Does anyone know the consequences of taking them back, eg do I get into trouble with the authorities etc and/or is it possible these are wanted criminals with a bounty of sorts on their heads?. Appreciate any replies to the matter of inhabited lifepods or any other aspect of materials, cargo etc collected from crash sites.

You'll get fined if you get scanned while they're in your hold. Smuggling is dead easy now. just fly into the station a bit faster than normal to avoid the scan.

Did you rescue from a planet crash site?

All the escape pods I've rescued from the surface (and cannisters) have been marked as legal salvage - those from space wreckage are always "illegal" (dating back to the original Elite where rescued escape pods became "slaves").

If you picked them from the surface, then I'd suggest a bug report is in order.

It seems harsh, but I think you have to let space debris and escape pods crash to the surface before rescue/salvage.

No, not picked up in space but from the surface of an icy moon/planet of a gas giant I was prospecting. Twice previously on surface excursions I have found stolen/illegal cargo cannisters which I left but this is the first time with lifepods. I will take up your suggestion on opening a bug report and see what happens, thanks for the reply.
