Inhabited system 5.200+ LY away from the main Bubble??

Hello guys,

I was browsing the galactic map looking for my next exploration trip when I came across this system:

The system is located more than 5.200 LY away from the Bubble but shows signs of colonization and expansion, which is very weird.
I've been trying (and still am) to get there to see what's hiding inside, but the problem is that most sectors around that area are permit-locked and I've not found yet a way to get past this barrier.

Hence my question: was expansion in this system been mentionned by Frontier at some point and I missed for whatever reason (despite receiving the Newsletter), or is it something weird indeed worth investigating? Or - unlikely, but who knows... - is it a kind of bug?

Anyway, I'll go on trying to get past the permit-locked barrier but I start to seriously doubt about it, in spite of my modded Dolphin and her 37.17 LY jump range.

Cheers,

- CMDR Lhynn

Probably an outpost owned by Deep Space Mining, ever since we got asteroid stations, they popped up everywhere, even T Tauri has one.

Oh... And are we supposed to be able to get to them to see them, or are they just spread wherever across the galaxy, including permit-locked areas?...

Very interesting!

Back in 2014, when we first got the Beta galaxy map, I spent ages checking for populated systems way out in the middle of nowhere. The vast majority of the ones I found had disappeared by the time Gamma (pre-release) rolled around.

Delighted to see some far-flung oddities are popping up now. I'm going to take a look, and see if there's a way to get there.

Ok then... Never seen an asteroid base so far, so I guess it's still worth the trip. But I have to admit access to this area is particularly complicated.
Thank you for your help :)

You need to "detour" a bit for the first part of the trip, as there is no direct path from the bubble to that system. Once you've gone around the permit-locked area, you can make a beeline for the target nebula without any more route plotting issues.

I'm now 1000Y from that system, and have been able to plot directly to it, no worries.

The path I took around the permit-locked areas involved jumping through these systems:

Synuefe QE-W b35-2
Synuefe ID-Z d1-33
Col 69 Sector QH-F b13-0
Oochorrs CJ-R b24-0
Flyooe Eohn NF-C d14-13
Flyooe Eohn TX-C b32-0
Flyua Eork IZ-S b9-0
...

Okay, I've docked. The beer here is average, but you must try the vegan dishes on the menu at New Beginning (asteroid base). The restaurant is run by the New Dawn Commune.

Recent traffic: 2 Asp Explorers, 1 Anaconda, and 1 DBE.

Worth the trip, as the nebula here is pretty.

Damn, I'll get there too late... xD
Thank you for your hints, I was starting to grow desperate. I'll probably be able to make it there by tomorrow evening. Then I'll have to find another way back home, through that goddamn 'permit-wall" again...

I wonder if that DBE is me! That's around where I am hunting geysers. Does XBO traffic show up on PC?

If any of you visit that station feel free to drop a screenshot and a short description of the place in the Galactic Mapping Project thread. It is one of the new asteroid bases that we do not have a description of yet. A description could eg. include your hints on how to reach the station by navigation around the permit locked areas.

The appending article for the GMP has been posted in the related thread. :)

The nebula is rather nice indeed but I have to say the trip was more stressful than awazing. Apart from a couple Earthlikes and a number of metal-rich planets, most systems I came across were composed of either lonely or binary stars, or rocky-icy planets of little interest (apart from a couple landable planets with eccentric orbits providing great views on the system and the galaxy at the back, as shown on these captures:

^ When your ship is lit brighter by the whole galaxy behind you than the star around which you orbit... :D ^ )

Time to head back to the Bubble now, hoping I won't come across any more permit-locked sectors.
