how big is the initial download?

The client installer doesn't seem to indicate an size or completion time estimate.

are the download servers really busy right now? I am getting .09 MB/s indicated which is silly. I'm wondering if I will live long enough to see this game download.

Disable firewall & virus progs then the d/l speeds up. Obv turn them back on when downloaded

I had this problem downloading, might be route to server or your ISP. I'm in the UK I do not know where servers are based I assume Canada?

Also rate seems to change on longer downloads, I think the max I got out of it when download was .42 and I only have a 5mg ADSL.

They use AWS so it should pick a server geographically close to you. The game is currently just under 3gb.

Try going into the internet options in your control panel and under the Connection tab click LAN Settings. Untick "Automatically detect settings" as I have seen reports of that causing slow downloads.

For me (fibre) the download usually starts out slow and then speeds up. The servers are probably still getting hammered but those downloading the beta 1.1 client though as it was pretty slow for me last night compared to other times I have downloaded.

My Frontier game directory is ~3.5GB if that gives you some idea of how much you need to download.

For me the download was strange. It was like... if I watched it it stayed at 0.0 MB / s and didn't seem to show any progress. I restarted several times thinking the server was down. Finally I left it on and made dinner, came back and it went from 1/3 to 2/3 complete. Still at 0.0 MB / s.... and not showing any real progress. Then I noticed in small bursts it would download a piece.

It would just leave it on and check on it periodically.
