Initial Release Starting Points?

 Hey all. I was wondering on the initial release, after gamma, Do you thing there will be another possible wipe to level the playing field to start things off or will those in gamma start out with that slight advantage to those who purchase at release? Also when we do start out, will we all start from one location? Being that there are multiple Factions, It would be nice to pick your permanent Faction and perhaps, start off in that Factions 'space' that way we start off at least spread out a little. What do you think?

Unless there is some REALLY bad bug. There will be no wipe after the Gamma wipe. Yes, the Backers who, supported the development of this game with their pledge money, will get a 3 week head start on everyone else, cause we paid for the privilege. ;) Starting positions in Multiplayer will be randomized and you will start with a ship and an amount of credits that matches your pledge level. Some of the higher levels have choice of more than one ship type and location. For those who buy the game on general release, will probably get the sidewinder and a random start location. The thing is, you are not competing against anyone in this game. There is final ending goal to achieve so starting early only gives you extra time to accumulate credits. I suppose you could use them to buy a killer ship and then on release day, lurk around and pick off noobs. Personally, I find that kind of pointless and there are supposed to be rules in place to discourage that kind of thing. So starting 3 weeks early doesn't really give you any advantage. You just get to see the final game before the general public does, and get to help Frontier squash those last few bugs that will appear in the Gamma. :D

Yeah, I don't think there will be a whole lot of people picking off noobs, for two reasons.

1) Many of the backers are slightly older than what is usual for online multiplayer games.

2) They will soon get massive bounties, and killing them will be a nice feather in the cap for an aspiring bounty hunter.

What's to stop them just getting their friend to kill them and then splitting the bounty?

Your bounty comes out of your funds during insurance. If you don't have enough to pay the bounty after insurance, you get a loan and they get your money until you're repaid.
