Initiative to standardize VR APIs

As there's lot of renewed interest in VR from both hardware and software developers, Valve seems to have initiative to try to standardize VR access at software level. As always, everything what competition does must be evaluated carefully (Valve however isn't in direct competition with FD, at least not atm), but I see this as good thing in long term.
