Injuries & Fatalities?

I hope that injuries and fatalities will be a part of the overall Planet Coaster simulation side of things. This would tie in nicely with maintenance of rides actually meaning something more than just a ride breaking down. Failing to maintain a ride (especially coasters) adequately, could result in an accident leading to injury and in severe cases, death.
The result of injuries or death would then lead to the persons involved taking legal action against the park. Too many bad accidents or death's in a short time period may lead to the park having to close down.

This would open up many play possibilities;

1) Park needing ride insurance
2) Settling claims (maybe out of court)
3) Providing skilled maintenance personnel
4) Limitations on how coasters are built taking into account human tolerances
5) Too many accidents could affect park attendance
6) Media coverage (good/bad)

The list could go on and on [happy]

The above could be available in a HardCore mode. This would keep the simulation nuts happy and also the peeps who just like to play without worrying about details.

In RCT1&2 a coaster crash would almost always reduce your park guest count (at least slightly) and the ride itself would rarely get any guests to ride it. That was pretty accurate to how it would be in real life, but I don't think crashes are all that common.

Deaths are not neccessary in this game, but crashes could be interesting to see if handled properly. There could also be the risk of injury if you have a dangerously built coaster, which could result in guests with casts/crutches... but I doubt it will happen.

Also, those things often don't get much media coverage in real life as lawsuits settle out of court... in game its just a huge loss for your park (game over)

After the horrific accident at Alton Towers with the Smiler, saftey block break systems, so I belive, are becoming more tightly controlled. I belive this is what we will see simulated in Planet Coaster. While I argue for many aspects of realism, I have the feeling that the designers could not justify the risks of this one. I agree with you that, if done carefully, it could be well simulated, but I have my doubts. Best, R.

I think they have been very clear that death will not be part of this game.
Being quite new to PC, I was not aware that they have stated as such. It seems a shame that the majority of so called simulations miss out on adding realism which to my mind is part of a simulation. I hope they will at least add some form of penalty for failing to maintain your rides apart from the normal downtime of the affected ride.

I think this is down to external factors. Even if it is a simulation, certain things, nowadays with such detailed 3D, can land you with an age rating that you would rather not have. The more realistic everything gets, the more the PEGI gets involved, or so I have seen.

I dont think dying guest would be implemented.
I would on the other hand like to see roller coaster failures, where all the trains are stuck on the block brakes until fixed.
I would also like to see coaster crashes while building/Testing the coaster because you made turns to tight, or your velocity is to high.
and as long as you do not fix that issue, you cannot open the ride.
