Insane sound/joystick problem

Hey guys,

I'm having some weird problems I've never had before with Elite and my X52pro.

In the last day or so I have: changed Steam VR to select rift audio when Steam VR starts and my headset when not in VR.
I installed the EDMS app and linked it to Inara and EDSM.

I think that's it.

NOW: While playing my deploy hardpoints button (the safety switch button) mutes and unmutes the Windows system sound, and moving my stick raises and lowers the volume in game.

I unplugged it and plugged it back in, rebooted, no joy. Then I removed the device from device manager and the problem persists but now that's ALL my joystick does.

Haaalp!

p.s. the first sign of trouble was actually hearing menu bloops while flying when I would use my stick. I muted all the steam and oculus programs in the sound mixer and it covered up the problem. Now this.

help?

Very odd!
Have you considered getting the free Oculus (companion) key from your Frontier account and installing/running from the Oculus launcher?
Not suggesting it will sort out your issue (but consider looking at your bindings to check which secondary key is associated with joystick movement / buttons) but will remove another layer of software. I've not had any problems running my alt from SteamVR, that considered - so take a peek at your bindings as a starter :)

I am having the same issues with my t-flight Hotas 4 except it is the secondary fire button that is muting and unmuting the sound.
Also the hat switch stops working when in the SRV!
Will have a look at my bindings later.

Did you ever find a solution to your problem? I'm having the same thing with my T16000 hotas. Button 2 on the stick mutes and unmutes sound in windows.
The weird thing is that it doesn't happen every time I play. Sometimes I can use secondary fire and sometimes it just mutes the sound.
Seems to be an Elite Dangerous thing since it stops happening as soon as I close the program.

I haven't found a solution yet. And yes you are right, it only seems to be in Elite Dangerous. Do you also use Singularity on Voice Attack as I wondering whether that might be connected.
