Watching now, things I've noticed:

- New Interface
- New docking clamp release sound
- Music in Supercruise

Edit 1:
- Different rendering for background galaxy?
- Distance is now described to an accuracy of 10 centimeters, even in supercruise

Edit 2: New planet textures?? (see Eranin 2)

DB seems to be talking about a fairly aggressive game - lots of combat references.... PvP back on the menu du jour after all?

Toad.

"if it goes wrong...

Might be overkill to say the tide is turning against 'casual gaming', but........

http://www.computerandvideogames.co...lains-nintendos-renewed-passion-for-the-core/

I read about Miyamoto's comments earlier - but the core he's talking about isn't anything like we would recognise in ED.

He's talking about the fact that Nintendo has been abandoned by the people who made the Wii such a huge phenomenon. He thought those new players would learn and be able to move with Nintendo to another platform. Instead they packed up their Wiis and gone back to watching TV and doing lunch or whatever (probably playing WoW or some other time sink MMO lol).

Toad.

The new menus look larger, and clearer to read, but less 'holographic' than before. Hmmm. The lords giveth ...and taketh away. :)

Probably makes it a LOT easier to read when using the Occulus Rift though I am betting..

Heh. We, the PC Elite, used to blame huge fonts and ugly GUIs on the console crowd (look at all the font/gui mods for Oblivion and Skyrim to cram more info onto the screen). Now we're doing it to ourselves in the name of Virtual Reality. :)

You'll note that distance to target offers more information.

Too much information.

457.3771m? That's sub millimeter accuracy.

It is nice having some indication of relative closing velocity from 1-3 km, but this is overkill that clutters and potentially confuses, not least because decimal/comma usage differs between nations.

Frontier should consider simply changing the threshold for displaying distances in km to 10 km, rather than the current 1 km. This would give meter accuracy for distances between 1 km and 10 km in 4 digits, with no need for decimals.

Not sure what to make of that.

It doesnt seem very different from what we got now, and the way he was talking about somethings as features I thought was placeholder.

Interesting video. Nice sneak peek of the next build.

@Celeste I just changed the topic title to something that gives people more of an idea of what is in the post :)

Distance precision down to 10cm is ridiculous when you move at several thousand kilometers per second... and the fact they put 4 decimals after the comma instead of three just makes the whole distance display very confusing.
I guess the new menus are more readable, but I'd like them to feel more holographic. Maybe a tiny bit of noise or flicker could do the trick.
