Inspiration/Constructive Criticism

Hi guys,

I’m starting to make some progress with my zoo, it’s at a stage where things are in place but it isn’t too big to change yet. I’ve worked on an African themed section of the zoo and I’m looking for some comments from you guys on ways to improve what’s in place already. I know its my project etc but I’m happy to make tweaks or suggestions! I’ve posted a link to some screenshots on imgur so hopefully you’ll get a view on what I’ve made so far!
Thanks!

I think it looks good! It's hard to make out all the details, but it doesn't look bad at all. I like how spacious it looks.

Unrelated tip but you can press F12 in game to take a screenshot. :)

I like how spacious each habitat is. Maybe you could extend the scenery/biome placement beyond the habitat barriers to create themed areas, with utilities and shops that match those themes. That way you might have some less harsh borders (with the paths presently) between each habitat and it'll look a little more natural.

Some of the paths have gaps that could potentially be filled in too, either with scenery (as I see you've done here and there) but you can also place a piece of path in a corner, for example, delete it and it'll create a curved bridging piece of path in-between two lanes that were previously connected at a harsh angle. Give it a whirl and remember to keep the undo button as a close friend.

Give us an update on your progress :)

Hey @NYCChristoff! I agree with @TheDeadYoshi, I think you’ve made each habitat wonderfully spacious for your animals! I couldn’t tell if you have this in your zoo from your screenshots, so please excuse me if you do, but you could try experimenting with different heights of terrain around your zoo? That way you can have different viewpoints, and more dynamic habitats. Keep us updated on your progress!

Hey!

Thanks for your comments! I’m intrigued by your path placement idea, but I’m not sure I quite understand how to achieve the effect you’ve described, could you perhaps post a screenshot? :)

Thanks!

Yes there are some changes to height, I’ll take some better screenshots once I’ve made some changes and show you! :)

It looks great and quite realistic (at least if I compare it to our zoos in the Czech republic)! I'd love to see more screenshots, but maybe make ingame screenshot next time, to show even more details :).
