Yeah I have ED installed on my H: driveNo issues.
How did you do that. The installer won't do that. All it allows you to do is install the launcher to a chosen location.
Oh I simply created a folder on H drive, moved the Client-Install.exe there and ran it. It will install into folders under that main folder.
Alternatively you can, as you've said, install launcher to a chosen location, and ED will install into folders under the main launcher folder there. I just did it the lazy way

We managed to find a way round it in Premium Beta.

You would need to do a search, it was something like install the launcher wherever you want, exit and do not let it download client,
then create a Products folder within the Launcher parent Directory ie F:\Elite Dangerous\Products
The launcher will then download the Client to that folder when you run it

Not quite sure what you mean by a "chosen location", Granite.
Are we saying that without some fiddling around, the game won't let you install it off the C drive? I really hate that.

No... it will install the ED Launcher into whichever folder you choose to specify (if you wanted to), and then the game proper into folders underneath that.
If you want to fiddle around, then you can install the Launcher and ED into 2 different drives (based on Del-Dredd's post).
I didn't fiddle - and I got it installed on H drive.

Its never worked that way for me. Launcher goes into chosen location, but game always goes into C:
