Installation Issues

Hi everyone I'm new to this forum. Strange thing happened I bought Elite Dangerous Premium Beta yesterday. Order status complete, installed client but I can't get past the log in stage. I'm using the correct email address & password but it keeps saying I am missing required field. Also they never sent me the Verification code for the game I looked everywhere, please help

Hello there Freddievol

The verification code should come in an e-mail to the address you used in store. Have a look in your spam filter for it. If not, uninstall the whole shebang and try again.

If the problem persists, I'd contact support@zaonce.net for help.
 
Thanks the for the quick reply, tried everything you said. Uninstalled the client and reinstalled it many times but didn't work it still won't except my email & password and the Verification code is not in my spam folder. I have emailed support, besides that I'm really lost on what to do.

I purchased Premium Beta 2 weeks ago and have received diddly squat... my order status simply shows as "Processing..." ?? :( Is this normal?
 
You need the verification code at first. Are you sure the transaction went through? Check your bank account and se if they have whitdrawn the amount.

Iam not sure how Frontier handle transactions and new accounts , maybe you have to wait for a work day untill you get a verification code, if its handled physical.

I'm having the same exact problem. Purchased yesterday, installed the downloader this morning, and cannot get past the login window. My credentials are correct but I keep receiving the error "Missing Required Field". Only username and password fields are on this screen so I can't imagine what I would be missing.

EDIT: Looks like it might be the verification code since I received nothing in email except for the purchase confirmation message.

Looks like verification code isn't it. Downloading the launcher on a separate workstation works just fine and I see a message saying my code was delivered. At my home workstation, I simply can't get past the login stage without receiving the same error posted by OP.

OP: I PMed you. Hoping to figure this out while waiting for progress on my support ticket.
 
Hi its Freddie I'm now able to get past the log in stage and enter my verification code, but I still can't install the beta. On the clients log in screen there was only a option to purchase the game, I was told by support to send them the clients log. But there is none in the client's install folder. Not sure what to do.

Are you able to login whit your email and password?

If you can do that. on next screen you will se your email in the upper right corner. Click that and check for updates.
 
Oki check version number at the right bottom.
If it says 0.2.981.0 then you have the latest installed. Also if you click on your email (Top right) and check for updates a small window will pop up and tell you if you have the latest build.
Another thing you can try is to click on that Log out Machine and try again.

Btw do you have the "Play" button in right bottom corner?


If nothing of the things work I can only suggest you uninstall the game and download it again from your account page.

And also to notice.
This game creates a bunch of folders so it can be hard to find where the client.log is stored.

But correct path would be:

user/AppData/Local/Frontier_Developments/Logs

Notice that there is 2 different Frontier developments folder under
user/appdata/local/,,,

So just check them until you find the correct one.


And also you must have so your computer can show hidden files and folders.
Or els you wont se that "AppData" folder.

To change it go to controlpanel and select folderoptions.
Open Folder Options, select the tab "View", then select (dot) Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and click on OK

Hi thanks for the advice, but I tried all that. Nothing seems to work, the "Play" button in the right bottom corner is not even there and I'm on the latest build 0.2.981.0 of the game. Also when I click on check for updates no pop up appears that supposed to tell me I'm on the latest build.

Have you tried to reinstall it as well?

And did you find that client.log?

its weird and I think only the customer support could help you of you have tried all this things now.

It seams that somehow the client don't reccon that you have a valid account or that its not activated.
 
I found this from another thread.
Check it out and se if that helps.

Navigate to your User\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments\Products directory

Rename 'FORC-FDEV-D-1000'

To: 'FORC-FDEV-D-1001'


They are creating a separate "product" for the production (i.e. currently beta) version, internally called "FORC-FDEV-1001", while "FORC-FDEV-1000" was the alpha which got rebranded as premium beta 1. so now if you are a beta backer, the launcher detects that you haven't got the product (1001) and prompts to install it. the product's installer then detects the previous installation (as 1000) and uninstalls it.

Sometimes games can really test a mans patience.

 
Thanks but I don't have those folders on my computer, only the Frontier/EDLaunch folders that are installed with the Client in
Program files (x86).
