Installation Issues

Thanks but I don't have those folders on my computer, only the Frontier/EDLaunch folders that are installed with the Client in
Program files (x86).

Are you sure you can se hidden files and folders then?

And the other 2 I was talking about is in User/appdata,,,,,

"User" is your personal folder on the computer.
And you must be logged in as administrator to se thos files,

ps: and if you cant se thos files something is wrong whit your installation of the game.

When you dl the client from the account page, you install that. And when you start up the client and put in your email and password the game want to dl some more content and that is actually the game it self. But you should se at the bottom right a button that says something about upgrade.
And make sure so your firewall or antivirus prg don't block the game.

Thanks Vikinger for the help, found Clients log and I sent to Support by attach to ticket. Maybe they can do something, thanks again.

I'm having the same exact issue. First, I kept receiving the "Missing Required Field" error when attempting to log into the client. The support team provided me with an executable called MachineIdentifierTester.exe - I ran this and the error was resolved. However, I'm now stuck at "Purchase". I've tried all the steps you have tried but to no avail. I even attempted to run the client under a different user account.

When I install the client on my work laptop and log in, I'm prompted to install the game. At home, I'm stuck with the option to purchase. Like you I also sent support the client.log file, but comparing it with the client.log file off my work laptop, I see nothing different.

Hope you get it resolved soon. I'll post here and PM you if I have any luck here. :(
 
Hi all, not sure if this is related but i had simillar instalation probs for three days but mine was a corupted download file prob, 3 times i downloaded in the end i went to the tech support page and they sugested installing it on my desktop as win 7 can be damn finaky about admin rights even though i thought i had full admin privliges and only one account on my pc anyhow i installed on the desktop and everything worked how or why i dont know but heck it may work for you!
 
Hi Mack71, I tried what you said by installing on my desktop instead, but it didn't change anything. when I put in my email & password on the client all it shows is Purchase on the bottom right corner.

Uninstalled the client and installed the new one from the online store. Same issue - prompted for "Purchase" instead of "Install". To be frank, I'm getting rather frustrated with this problem. I understand this is beta and even my inability to install this game is contributing to the main release, but I thought I signed up to beta test the game, not the installer. Bugs and in-game defects are understandable, but I can't help to feel like I wasted $150 to beta test a game I can't even install.

Maybe I'm more frustrated now because I think my inability to install will be placed on the back-burner for the new beta2 problems being reported here. We'll see I guess. Here's hoping the support team makes progress on my ticket.

having the same issue. installer only shows purchase. regarding that quote is a post from 25.07.2014.
support knows about this issue for over a week now!
i also filed a ticket 2 days ago. got told they are looking into it.

now i really can't understand this. they got 1,5 million from kickstarter, then some hundred thousand bucks from premium beta buyers. still they are going that slow on this issue. this is not acceptable.

sadly we can't do anything, they got the money, and we can't play. :(
 
Try installing Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Safari - any browser but IE.

Download it via that to a new folder in your Documents that isn't your Downloads folder, and run the install from there as local admin.

Windows does some funny things with directory ownership, and IE does some funny things with downloads.

May or may not work, but worth a try at least.

i never use IE, i never download to "My Downloads". it's no issue of folder or files ownership. really sure of that.

I have a special build of the launcher that enables additional debugging. Hopefully this will provide Frontier with useful information about the problem. Once this gets resolved, I'll be sure to post it here for anyone who might have this problem now or in the near future.
 
i got a new launcher from support which now works fine.

Same here. According to support, the issue was that Windows was launching the 32-bit launcher instead of the 64-bit launcher. No additional information was provided beyond that. I confirmed the new launcher no longer prompts for "Purchase" and allows the game to be installed.
