installed from steam and the launcher won't start the game.

Not a question so much as help for those who run web filtering.
If the launcher allows you to click play and nothing happens, check the web filter and allow connections to cdn.zaonce.net. i blanket removed the restrictions and the game now launches fine.

google key words:
launcher won't launch game

I have a similar problem but steam won't launch the Launcher and when I downloaded it from the website it still didn't work.
I am using a mac mini late 2014

I also got the first season through steam but bought Horizons through the FD store.

Even during the first season, I used to start the game directly through the launcher exe in the installation folder, bypassing steam altogether.

@OP, you can also try running the launcher from the installation folder. If you don't know how to find it, you can right click the game on steam, select local files and go to the install location. Launcher is located in the first folder.

This can be run without going through steam and will work just fine. Only drawback is no game time tracking through steam and no steam overlay.

Steam's had some issues lately.

It it still boggles my mind why people need the steam overlay.

Most people don't give much of a flying for the Steam overlay. It's download performance. I cannot be bothered with the speeds FD provided during launch anymore. I'm way too used to having a 100Mbit pipe. It's a first world problem but one Steam can solve. If FD had decent bandwidth I wouldn't have cashed in my key yet.

Another advantage would be sync'ing games on multiple computers. But I don't really use that much.
