Newcomer / Intro Installer Question

I have selected the single player tutorial from the installer and installed that first since it seems like a good place to start.

Now here is my question, will this shorten the download of the main game since I hope I am downloading a lot of the game's assets for this?

No it won't unfortunately as the combat training downloads to a separate folder. The full client contains the same training demos so I would just go for the full install.
