Instant Billionaire?

So I was playing around with modules to optimize my Cobra's energy draw. Changing modules around when suddenly...

Should I be a billionaire for science & the lulz?

The pricing error is gone after I save to main menu, but can be readily reproduced. I am not sure I can actually sell it to be honest, 99% sure it will throw me an error but I don't want to risk it lol

EDIT: If a mod / dev stumbles into this topic. ticket #00000040234 is what you want. I detail how I managed to do this there.

I noted a similar error while doing a galaxy map search on the let top panel it showed all nines for credits; alas my actual wallet value was somewhat smaller :)

Hah nice.
If you know exactly how to reproduce it, ticket it and let FD test what happens if you actually accept it.

But personally, in the words of Starsky: Do it. Do it.

Will be ticketing after I got my Asp A5 FSD, I don't want to mess with my account save to be honest, FD said some account save are permanently damaged by bugs (mostly exploring bugs)...

People have had transaction errors in their favor before and become billionaires without corrupting their saves. Do it for science!

Hmmm... looks like 32-bits of 1's. It is possible that your credit balance will just wrap around and not change at all. Or you create a black hole in the outfitting bay and destroy the station...

I know, I read the 32-bit thing on another bug here before (this game seem to have a lot of stuff happens and show that number). Previous occurence seem to not actually allow you to proceed as far as I know.

How can you see your bandwith usage ? Is it an in-game option ?

On topic : do it Commander ! For Science ! :D

Seems to be an overflow error hidden in the code somewhere. FD should fix this asap. In the meantime, you could try to get the bigger ships to A rating, but I fear 4 billions won't be enough to get a decent Anaconda :)

Hurrah for overflowing 32-bit unsigned integers! What you are seeing there is a sell value of -1, but the value that holds that number is of a type that doesn't hold negative numbers, so it wraps around to become the largest number that value can hold, in this case 2^32

So it will not make me a billionaire & instead charge me 1 credit for selling?

edit: you just said no negative number lol, silly me.

All those saying "Do it" ... wrong answer.
The correct thing to do is ticket it, which you have, and let Frontier investigate it.
To knowingly take advantage of it could get you in trouble.

Most likely. I would bet the mistake is only in how it displays the number, not how it calculates it in the underlying code.

You know, the thought of a fully A fitted Anaconda always made me smile. FD should give me enough credit to do that for being a good sport reporting the bug lol.
