Horizons Instant killed by blue ribbon star - neutron star

Standard jump to star. Captured by neutron star - blue ribbon thing. Could not escape, everything failed. 19M rebuy. Is this really intended play - random destruction?

I lost a ship to a neutron star in 2.1 I warped right in front of it, could not get away. But it was only an Adder ship, not an expensive Vette, Conda, Liner etc.

Yes this game is a real grind for destruction most of the time. Its a bit convoluted.

Ran into one, it's grav field pulled me out of supercruise. It kept trying to fry me when I hit the FSD. Finally lined it up directly behind me and I was able to escape.

It requires quick pull out when you come out of hyper. A real stinker. I don't recall the location.

I seemed to just jump straight into the ribbon part (stream) of the new blue neutron star – or whatever it is. Got the message about FSD supercharge. But also everything failing – fsd, thrusters, cockpit etc. Tried reboot. Logged off and back on. Just had to wait while oxygen ran out and ship destruction. Very annoyed because nothing I could do to prevent the inevitable course of events. Previously, I have just turned away from the centre where you seem to usually jump in, as with normal white dwarfs etc. Not found anything in the manual about these or training videos on the correct procedure to adopt. Will check again. My usual practice is the throttle reverse when jumping. Cannot swear I did not forget this time - it is automatic rather than conscious - but even so, the penalty for a such a small error is way too punishing in my view.

It is a known bug. In one of their logs (can't remember which one) they state that jumping to an NS or WD system, the entry point to not be at the poles. This should not allow your ship to enter the system in the cone.
FD are asking for video footage of entering the systems so they can find out what is happening.

This does not seem to affect everyone who enters the system in the cone. It seems that if you are in this position, log out and report the bug. FD can move you to another system.

Fly safe.

To be picky, you werent instant killed then :)

Did you know that you can filter these out now? Its what im doing as neutrons are too risky for me...

Today I ran into 3 white dwarf suns, LFT 367 A, LP 62-147 A AND LB 2449 A. Avoided being grav-locked by two and must have done something right regarding FSD boost as I got a message about FSD operating beyond maximum limits. I wasn't about to fool with it as I was in my Corvette and near my destination. Three places to be aware of.

Ran into a fourth one, LHS 2522.

Four today when I had only run into one ever, that was yesterday. Are these things supposed to be that common?

+1

Halfway from Colonia, long hard RL days invested. You said it all. Jumped straight into the jets and you couldn't even tell where to go. Maneuvering to the escape vector was... difficult, especially while my Asp baked to a crisp.

The cursed system was Prula Phoe DW-N E6-23.

Cockpit is destroyed, finally escaped the damn neutron jets somehow but who cares. I quit out of that nonsense with 2mins of air left.

I just lauded this game with accolades and now I'm completely fed up. Time is precious. I can't waste it on random destruction like this. Looks like I'm puttin this game down for a long long long long long (as long as it would take for my AspX to get back to the bubble with basic thrusters) time.

FD fix my ship and all is forgiven [up] lol

I'm impressed you can shake that off with humor. You must have immense zen training or be on permanent vacation.

As was pointed out in some replies to your post, assuming this is a risk you take instead some demon of a bug, the risk of losing everything versus 300% jump distance is not worth it. If you want to make travelling easier don't throw in little surprises like this. I will never travel the "Neutron Highway" again. Gosh I was excited about that feature too pffffft suckas haha

Glad that hasn't happened to me. since I bought the game, I've just hung around the same system for the whole time. its safe there lol.

Truly sucks. Neutron Stars have always had killer instincts even before 2.2 but now even doubly so.

Word of advice: When jumping to a neutron star drop your throttle to zero before you arrive. You'll hit the exclusion zone so quick that you won't have time to react if you aren't prepared.

All is forgiven [yesnod]

My ship was fixed, moved off to the side, and apologies were offered.

Accepted. Faith restored.

Now back to the standard jonkfest back to The Bubble :shakes finger at neutron stars:

stein 2051 red dwarf. Suspiciously small, blue and bright. I think. But I am not going back to check. Certainly I had the filter on for only scoopable star route and it was blue, shiny and small. Think it was stein.

EDIT: confirmed. New blue ribbon neutron star - or whatever they are. Galaxy map describes it as red dwarf class M. Not filtered by scoopable stars filter route planner.

Jaiotu is right. You reduce the danger by setting your throttle to 0 when you drop from hyperjump. At least, if you meet a neutron buddie, you'll drop from SC at a safer distance. I always do this, no matter the star. I always reduce speed to 0 when arriving to a system.
