Instant Supercruise NPC???

Well, this is odd. I was approaching a station and an NPC I had my eyes on, suddenly accelerates to SC speeds and disappears from view. Same behavior is observed on radar too...I was in Solo mode, connection 110d/12up, no issues.

NPC frame shift behavior is one of two main ways (the other being lack of instance to instance persistence) that they differ from CMDRs.

NPCs can high wake while docked, jump with their FSD at 0%, etc.

Cool, except that it wasn't in supercruise graphically speaking. It wasn't a shiny dot, like the other NPCs in SC usually are. Also there is no wake left behind. I found it curious enough to share.

NPCs don't play by our rules.

That's not entering SC, it would leave a wake behind. It's a bug I've seen a few times where NPC ships (in particular, the light fighters) "collide" the station... it seems to make the physics glitch occasionally, causing them to rapidly tumble off. I saw one once that had huge rotational impact, but didn't send it far. The poor fighter survived the knock, but was rapidly spinning for at least 2 minutes. Would've hated to be in there with a VR headset.

To be honest, I don’t really know what that is. It’s not entering SC, i agree (view my previous post), but look at it on the radar: the radar signature acts like it’s in SC.
