instanu pirates in galnet - what am i missing?

so i head over to instanu as it's in galnet as having a pirate problem. Takes me an hour to get there coming from a pretty good bounty hunting system.

Get there and no one is marked as wanted as the controlling faction is an anarcy. I get interdiced by a eagle 2000cr bounty. Wooo. Then I interdict a clipper with 10,000 bounty. uhhhhh.....

Head over to the extraction zone and nothing.

Go to the other extraction zone and lots of ships but no-one is classed as wanted. Some of the ships have some bounty. shoot them and then the local razzers are on to me but he shot me first and I'm not wanted!!

I get interdicted by a conda who has no bounty (scanned it) and says i'm the offending ship they were looking for, or something like that.

So what's the point of this? are we suppose to 'take sides' and make another faction the controlling faction.

Seems like a total waste of my sunday to me. Please tell me i'm being thick!

You know that everybody comes up clean in an Anarchy system right? You need a Kill Warrant Scanner to do any kind of bounty hunting in Anarchy System.

yep of course. I'm clean so why are there local authority vessels that shoot me? I guess I have to pick a side when I get to extraction point. trying it now.

its like a episode of jeremy kyle when you get to these systems.

dont get it. says see cmd yoyo or something. no where to be seen. controlling faction are an anarchy faction who shoot their own pilots and if you do the say they shoot a you too. a buggy mess like the warzone I went to last.....

so I kill the anarchy faction pilots, then kill the local police. Says my inflence with them has gone up.

Oh sod this....totally brokenm

Istanu Piracy Out of Control
An investigation into local pirate activity near the Alliance core systems has shown a focused gathering of cut-throat pirates in the Istanu system.

Individual contractors are being informed that many bounties are up for grabs. For a point of contact, CMDR Jobedy of the Alliance Outskirt Fleet has taken lead and is forming a local militia to assist the innocent miners reclaim the system.

where is that little prit?

I'm there now. Same problem

Everybody is clean but I can see other ships shooting at each other.

I wonder if this CMDR Jobedy fella is in a USS somewhere?

You can't select faction sides, I already tried that

Edit - He isn't on the BB either

I flew up there this evening.

I think next time I get invited to an anarchy system I'll invest in a KWS first..... A bit of a wasted trip...

Probably should have checked the map first.

I think this is FD injecting player stuff into galnet like they said they were going to do in the newsletter. Glad I didn't waste my time going there.

Huh?

There are lots of pirates in that system. The Cmdr organized a militia to fight them. What do you expect?
Do you think that if you drop out at a USS there, you'll find Cmdr Jobedy with a yellow question mark on their head, or what?

In basically any anarchy system, NPCs of the same faction have a chance to attack you when you attack their faction mate. It's a bit ridiculous at times (I've shot on one party engaged in combat to find both parties now targeting me) but that's the fun of an anarchy system.

You do sometimes see authority - I think it's caused when minor factions are trying to gain influence and flip the system away from anarchy.

Anarchy systems are best bounty hunting systems. Targets everywhere.

You need a kill warrant scanner.

Extraction zones are terribad for hunting... Ive had the best luck at the Asteroid Belts close to the star.

There are no special missions. The bounties arent higher than what you would expect. And the number of wanteds in an instance seems pretty basic. The galnet post is most likely there to increase action in an Anarchic system so they can see how it reacts to players... *tin foil hat* because most people are traders and avoid those systems.

Only thing ive noticed is the interdiction rate is a bit higher.

There are also pirates without a bounty.... More specifically elite Condas who will open fire on you but have no criminal history via kscan.

Thanks FD for trying to help us bounty hunters out.... I guess.

Great, I shouldn't have read this thread. I was actually heading there since it was close and now it seems like there is no reason for me to go. Gee gee.

Also. If you have to strip down your viper, make sure to leave a fuel scoop and make a pit stop at one of the hi tech systems to refit. As well as a basic discovery scanner to map istanu.

Idont understand, whats happening there?

I think its just some injected text into galnet with no actual substance behind it. Went there this morning and it was no different to any other extraction site. The highlight was my mate capping a human cmdr with a 250k bounty and then promptly pancaking himself into an asteroid losing the lot, oh how we lolled!

It's probably referring to how there are real pirate CMDRs in the area, and since it is drawing people there, the event is working! Now go kill some pirates/players (depending on what you are).
