Insurance? Can you work it out how much you need?

Hi all
Can you work out how much you need for Insurance IF you didn't keep a track of the cost of your upgrades.

I was looking at the selling price but I know they take off some of the cost of your old ship when you sell it but not your add-ons. I think!

Anyway, has someone worked it out or is it all a guess (just keep more than 10%)

Not sure where it's documented but I believe it's 5% for Alpha backers and 10% for everyone else.

Losing your ship gives you an accurate breakdown of what you need to pay, but obviously that's a little late! What you can do to find an approximate value of your ship is go to the shipyard, see what its trade in value is and calculate from there.

It's not easy but it's doable. If you're at a station with a ship yard go into the ship yard and try to buy a different ship (but don't actually sell it) The page will give you the trade in value of your current ship including equipment and cargo. Take 10% of that trade in value as your ball-park insurance cost. Unless you're an Alpha backer then it'll be 5% of that trade in value.

What you pay to get your stuff back is the excess on the policy. Insurance comes as standard when you buy a ship/upgrades.

If you paid insurance upfront you would need to amend your policy everytime you upgrade your ship. All there needs to be in game is your ships current value and the current insurance cost available to view in station under some information tab.
