Newcomer / Intro Insurance cost before buying a new ship

I want to buy a new ship and still have enough credits to pay the insurance cost.

How do I know how much will be the insurance cost of that ship ? Is it a fixed percentage ?

I thought it was about 10% of cost. I might be wrong, that might of been from beta stage.

It's 10% unless you have backer/tester perks in which case it's less. You can see your current cost in the right hand ship panel, bottom left, "rebuy cost".

Edit: Ah, just noticed you can see your insurance cost direct, go right twice on the status tab in the right hand ship panel, there's a finance sub panel that tells you your insurance %.
