Insurance ideas

There seems to be a lot of discussiona about insurance and people quitting after losing their stuff (after flying without insurance). Here's some ideas, what do you think?

1) Current system: Player has to keep an eye on what is their rebuy (insurance cost), if they fly without enough credits for rebuy = bankrupcy

2) Keep Current system, but show a warning dialog for example when you are about to launch from station: "WARNING! Your account does not have enough credits to cover insurance/rebuy cost. Are you REALLY sure you want to take off?"

3) Raise all module/ship prices 5% so they include insurance. No more worrying about rebuy cost as individual ships/parts insurance is paid for and taken care off.

Number 3 doesn't scan, you'd only pay once and then you could boost into the back of the station as many times as you want without paying more for your stupidity.
Number 2 should maybe be an option you can turn off.

Knowing the way real car insurance works IRL for example, we're getting a pretty good deal. No premiums every month but you get a 95% guaranteed return of value, no increasing premiums as many claims as you like.... although they don't reassess their liability every time you drive, I'll give you that.

And have you ever tried to get the council to admit liability when their negligence is responsible for the damage?

Just read 'Space Station' and 'bug' into the last sentence and you'll realise it's just like real life........

Will change nothing but the titles of threads.
"Phone rang, missed insurance warning....XX millions lost, insurance system stinks" or
"How to turn off the annoying warning everytime i undock".
Besides, people KNOW they're undocking without insurance.
The problem is recklessness and arrogance....."i got this, the AI can't hurt me".
And then the AI comes back and serves them their butt on a plate.

I am sorry, but if you mess around in that glove compartment so long that you miss approaching a brick wall, you should let the wife drive. :)
My point was, that these players ran into the brick wall with seeing eye.
Look up the threads, people knew they weren't insured.
