Newcomer / Intro insurance question...

So thankfully I've only died once so far (knock on wood ;)) It was early on in my sidewinder in a station mishap. I didn't pay much attention to the insurance screen, I just remember it was some trivial cost, so I just paid it and moved on.

Now that I've got a better ship, decked out with a bunch of upgraded modules, I'm wondering, it it an all-or-nothing deal if i happen to die again?
Meaning, if I didn't have enough funds for the ship and all the upgraded modules, would i be given the option to deselect some of the expensive mods, to get to an insurance cost I could afford? Or is it only "pay for everything, or take a sidewinder" ?

You can choose what you want to rebuy. When you die there's a checklist of the upgraded modules.

Also, if you're worried about the costs, check in your ship's right-hand panel, it'll list the replacement cost for the full ship + modules.

yes, you can deselect some of the mods to make it cheaper, there is also a loan of upto 200k that you can get if you fall a little short. IIRC this is paid back out of your profits.

Wow, loans up to 200k!
...and to think i was sweating it when I was running some missions while low on funds with my lowly adder.
