Hardware & Technical Intel Core i3-3240T CPU @ 2.90GHz - enough?

I know minimum requirements for cpu are quad core 2GHz, but I wonder if my duo core will handle it.

It is an Intel core I3- 3240T cpu clocked at 2.90GHz, it looks like it's got hyperthreading cause shows 4 logical cores.

I checked systemrequirementslab.com and it says CPU passed. My graphic card is R9 285 so should have no problem there, and 6 GB ram.

Just note that hyper threading is not equal to adding more virtual cores to your cpu. So it doesnt mean you suddenly have 4 cores - despite what windows may tell you,

For ED I think that cpu would do it. Im not sure though since it conflicts with stated minimum specs. However, I have seen some posting current running setups with dualcore cpu running ED fine.

Hate to be seemingly raining on parades, but that CPU doesn't appear to have 4 cores.
It may be OK, but the specs do say, 4 cores minimum.

When I started playing ED, I was using an Intel Core2Duo E8400 at 3.0 GHz, 2GB DDR2 800, nVidia GTS450 and getting playable framerates (30-40fps) at 1920x1080 with every graphic setting turned low.

£260 got an additional 2GB RAM, an nVidia GTX760 and a 550W PSU to power it all.
Now I can play at 1920x1080 with every graphic setting on maximum and hardly drop below 60fps. I can even record video with ShadowPlay, which I couldn't do before.

It might be a streach I know, and I am aware that hyperthreading doesn't equal 4 cores, but my aim is to slowly upgrade my PC.
I've been all time playstation player and I was happy about it. Since Elite Dangerous came out I had to build a Pc. Can't affor a full rig so I took a OEM Asus desktop on credit and bought a graphics card and PSU for it. didn't want to buy sub par components. slowly updating to what is required.

I'll try to run it if not I'll have to wait till I'll get some cash for decent tower, motherboard and processor.

Give it a try. Turn off/down as many effects as you can. Especially, make sure the unused services in Windows are off.

You could find it's fairly playable,

It'll run on max settings at over 100fps outside and 50+ in RES and Stations I'd bet. The game isn't that hard on CPU and the graphics card is good.

It runs on ultra settings, 60fps allround. It drops to 45-55 when in a station and sometimes chokes when initiating hyperspace for half a sec. I think it's capped at 60 because of the TV it is connected to, 'dunno literally just build this thing.
Awesome. Thankfully I got a ps4 controller so not the worst controls, thanks a lot for replies, I thought It's got higher demands regarding CPU.
