Intended in 1.1 or bug? Modules power issue

So I had a serious issue that nearly cost me my ship after logging in after 1.1

Partly my own fault for having so many high tech gadgets in my ship, partly the update

I logged in and am docked at a station and straight away get shields offline, life support is displaying

As it's a station without outfitting I undocked and find myself dead in space.....while undeployed

Before the update I was running over the power limet by .20 and my modules set as low priority would cover the power difference and it was fine

I was this close to hitting self destruct as I was unable to move and suddenly thought of something else

I hit silent running and power is online, thrusters are at least so I disabled all my weapons and gadgets and head to an outfitting station to find:

In running a full 1.98 over the power limet in undeployed mode

So I optimize some stuff and sell a lot of things, yeah including all but one shield cell bank and discover the bug this post is about

I know how to optimize power and set priorities but whenever I exceed the power limet even by .01 ALL my systems go offline and the frame shift drive which is meant to go offline when deployed to save power instead just goes offline with all the systems

Is this an intended feature so you can't exceed the power limet anymore even by shutting down certain systems when deployed to save power?

Also to note when everything goes offline and turns red I can't do anything like optimise the modules on the spot, I have to hit silent running which seems a temporary fix
so I can dock

If it is, that's fine I just would have liked some warning first

My usual ship is now over the power limit but module priorities are fine and things shut down as I'd expect according to those.
 
Hmm, have you checked your Shield cells ? They need more than 3 times the power than before, so maybe you now use so much energy, that even Priority settings cant handle it any longer. In my ships everything is fine, the systems shut down in the correct order, depending on priority.
My Asp would have over 120% Power usage if everything would be online at the same time but since the AMFU are disabled everything runs fine.
So I cannot confirm a bug in the Power management.
 
Unable to change Module Priority

Most modules can have their priority changed or switched off but my Power Plant (Asp A5) has a default priority of 2 and it can not be changed or switched off. Any suggestions?
 
It seems that the Shield cells use the power when in the last power management slot and not even assigned to a hardpoint, so not even being used or needed atm. I wonder if this is intentional or if they can at least allow us to power this down while trading so we can map it to a hotkey and use for escape only? It's a huge kicker for power management for trading loadouts and trying to be light for jumps...
